Wonder if AC will be ostracized because no team wants a member who doesn't follow orders. Must be frustrating for the others in Astana this year with ACs behavior.

Hope you take those 2 minutes and stand happily on the podium for your 8th.

Hey Lance, could you please dedicate one of the last stages to big John Hartson, ex-professional fottball player in the UK who played for Celtic, Arsenal and West Ham amongst others. He is dearly love by many thousands of Celtic FC fans worldwide. His cancer diagnosis was eerily similar to your own (testicular that spread to the brain and lungs), and is currently in a critical but stable condition in hospital following brain surgery and has now started his further treatments. News has just been released that his partner is 4 months pregnant so we are all praying for the big guy. Ride well.

Absolutely amazing Lance. Although never being a cancer sufferer, or being American, you're my absolute idol. The work you do for others is so inspirational, and if I could attempt to make 1% difference to the world that you have, I would consider my life a success.

You're brilliant. Although maybe a tad unrealistic, my sentiment is still cheering you on through this tour. When you jumped from the peleton to the Contador group today I was shouting my house down! I have visions of you defying the odds once again & you winning the stage tomorrow. A forever remembered all-time great moment of the tour. Maybe I'm dreaming, but many of us would love it. Stay safe & keep well.

Best wishes from England.

Hey Lance, I've been watching and following the tour for the first time and I'm completely riveted by it! I admire every cyclist on the tour for their determination, drive, power and all the crazy politics involved!?! Just watched your Pre-Stage 16 update and thank you for recognizing those 5 cyclist hit and seriously injured in Ottawa on Sunday, I live in Ottawa and I have been hit by a car while cycling, I'm always fearful of it happening again. I want to thank a very special doctor at the University of Sherbrook he was able to remove 90% of my dad's brain tumour when no other oncologist would touch him, my dad may or may not get through this but I think it gave him hope. Good luck on the next stage, keep riding hard.

Hi Lance. How great was that today. You just looked like the Lance 3 years ago. Like the Tiger jumping to get the yellow and with that unbeatable strength and courage, braveness, intelligence and caution in descend. I love and adore you very much. Did you get my lettercard with sunflowers? There is still another to come to you on saturday. You can still win the Tour and I would be so enthusiatically happy. I dont know why but I like you more than Contador. He may forgive me, cause it is not just. I want to see you and only you in yellow soon, tomorrow...and than in the Time Trial and in Paris. Love and best wishes. Eat and sleep well, relax, recover and dream of winning the stage tomorrow and it will come true far ahead from Contador...I press my thumbs for you. They already hurt. Yours faithfully Cora

Lance,
What an amazing day, just when they count you out, you climb and kick butt! I for one was yelling at the TV! I hope you know just how many people you inspire and push to do better everyday!

I don't know if you read these but wanted to say that I too am a 37 yr. old cancer survivor (leukemia, 8 years and counting...yeah!) and I just got into the Tour after being diagnosed and went out to OHSU always sitting underneath your picture in the IV room. lol - I read both of your books and was SO inspired, I too fell in love with cycling and what strength it takes to win.

Lance - The week I was diagnosed I read "It's Not About the Bike", a year later, while training for my first Triathlon, I read "Every Second Counts" (and built out my Livestrong page). I have just crossed my 5 year marker and just finished my 1st Tri for this season. At 54 I intend to keep doing 5 events per year for as long as I can finish, to raise $ for people less fortunate than I am.
You inspire me.
You inspire all of us.
I'm sending some back your way.

Just love watching the two of you! Roberto of his aggressiveness, determination and leadership as a young rider; and yours, a more experienced and aggressive style, determined and supportive attitude, compassionate to people, and leadership in the team, you two are hard to beat!

I think this is Contador's year (and fair play to him, he flew yesterday). I've a feeling though you'll show the whippersnappers how it's done next year (providing you don't fall off again and crack another bone a few weeks before the start) :) Inspirational stuff.

I'd also like to echo one of the comments above regarding Big John Hartson. A sporting hero in the UK destined for great things (after retirement from an illustrious soccer career he has become a brilliant commentator just taking his first steps into management). And with his partner being pregnant it just shows how cruel and indiscriminate this damn disease can be.

Lance;
Good for you. Good for cycling. Good for the Astana team. True sportsmanship. But, deep down, if the power of over-achievement roars up within you and the bike feels like wings on air, then by all means GO FOR IT.
It would be preordained. More likely, if you ride to second place with Astana and share the podium with Alberto that is also a fantastic result and a great milestone for cycling. Imagine all those years for Jan to finish second and he never had the thrill of first place as you have had. Congratulations.

You probably never really understand what you mean to us. Hope & Faith that everything is possible. Even beat the Death. Both of my grandpa's died of cancer, my dear littlesyster was sent to home to die. I gave her your books as inspiration and she is still here with us! Great riding Lance. Inspired strategy! I believe that the Saxo boys are pretty down right now (despite having some great riders!!), I thought Frank was going to lose it when you passed him. Has the team discussed a 1-2-3 finish? Andres is a great rider who lived in the shadow of Jan. BTW.. I won't be suprised if either Brad or Christian won't be available for a new team soon. Perhaps something like...... Nike/Livestrong?? In the immortal words of Al Davis... "Just Win, Baby."

great ride lance i have to say everything you have done this tdf has been amazing no matter what the final outcome is.

However for everyone in here saying alberto contador is just a kid, the willpower and all that, i should remind you that it isnt just lance the one that has had to overcome dificult live-risking situations. Alberto was diagnosed a cerebral cavernoma in 2004 during a competition, in surgery they had to crack his skull to operate on him and he was almost a year to compete again, and now he's here with 1 tdf in his pocket, a giro and a vuelta, and trying for the second tour, so no matter lance is great and we all know it, but dont diminish the other riders efforts.

oh my god... #16... epic! what a stage, when you closed the gap, that was poetry.
the way you closed in on the breakaway was truly awesome.
when i saw wiggin's and schlek get behind ac's wheel and you made no move, have to say i was a little worried, but then... bliss... what a great moment when you ratcheted up the tempo... that was golden.

love to you lance

Hi Lance, when i saw those guys leaving u behind, and the comentators, saying your TDF was "finished", i freezed in front of the TV, in great delusion. But when the cameras came back at you, and i saw you riding like in the good old days, gaining ground so "easily", the only way i can express how happy i was, is saying that by the time you reached the main group, i was standing in front of the TV, shouting and ... ok i admit, one or two tears of joy. Great example again Lance, for your cause, the things can't always go the way we wan't, but Never, ever, give up.

Hey Lance!! Keep up the great efforts. You still can ride like before for sure. Wish i could see you in yellow in Paris. But if you think you should work for "superstrong", no problem. Lance will always be Lance, the great Lion King of the Mountains.

Today, When you made the move to ride across the gap to catch up to the yellow jersey; you floored the Versus commentators.
The distance you have traveled in one year to regain your pro fitness level is trully remarkable!
I found myself jumping out of my chair yelling at the TV, Go Lance! Go Lance!

Nice video - fans of the TV show "Lie To Me" will particularly enjoy the stroke of the chin at 50 seconds (watch from 45 seconds to get full context).
What do we read into that gesture???
Good to see that the competition is alive and well - let's hope that Lance can find strength to take it to Contador - would make for an amazing day on Mount Ventoux.

Why do you suddenly need to go together with Bruyneel? Need a new doping team?

Vino wants to come back and demands Bruyneel to go. Hmmm.
Why would he?

Did he threaten you with anything?

Lance, to be thinking about others (cyclist's critically hurt in a hit and run in Ottawa...all 5 found unconscious, and those striken with cancer), while in the middle of the Tour speaks to the man you are. You will always be an inspiration to me with your dedication and determination and selflessness. Keep up the great work...your acceleration on Petite St. Bernard was unbelievable!!!!

Lance, Thank you for your dedication to the 5 cyclists in Ottawa who were hit by a van a few days ago. The accident was a hit and run (although the driver has since turned himself in to the police). The 5 cyclists remain in hospital, most of them in very critical conditions. All of them were severely injured. The cyclists were experienced, had all the proper equipment and were travelling in a clearly marked bicycle lane on a sunny clear day. This tragic accident has had a profound effect on many of the citizens of Ottawa and your dedication is very appreciated. God Speed on the Tour.

You're a team player...what an awesome ride. You know you've got what it takes to win and yet you still play the team roll. I admire you. You've been an inspiration to me through my cancer(s) and now you continue to rise to the top with your principles. What a class act. You definitely livestrong and inspire me to do the same. Your mom did a superb job and being a mom of 3 wonderful guys myself, I know it's a hard job. She should be proud of your sporting accomplishments, of your determination to beat cancer, of your continued work for others (LAF), and mostly because you are a man of principle. Job well done Linda and Lance.

Howdy lance, great job man!!! The mark of a real champian is one who will put the team before himself,Contador I hope will learn that one day I hope?! It would really be be nice to see you catch and beat him before the end of this tour, But on any account do the best that you can and above all take care of yourself out there, you have nothing to prove to anyone anywhere's,I know you only had a small training period before you came back so just pace yourself and if you don't win it this year then next year you will be stronger,This old Cherokee burns the sweet sage for you,The wind will be at your back!stay safe!remember to breath, good luck and LIVE STRONG and GOD'S SPEED!!!...smokenbull

Lance - Thank you for always being the true champion. Your poise and class and dedication to the team show you to be the true leader of the peleton. While Alberto may win the tour he is losing respect with every move he makes like the one today ignoring team orders from Johan. Long after Alberto is gone eveyone will remember what a great champion you are and have always been and not just in the Tour! You helped me with my recovery and to this day, a survivor 10 years free, I still Livestrong!

Mr.Armstrong:

I cannot express how impressed I am, especially given just how much is on your plate at the moment, to take the time to give these best wishes to the unfortunate victims of this hit-and-run. Canada (I dont know about the US) has been experiencing an upsurge recently both in drunk driving convictions and hit-and-run incidents leaving many cyclists dead. There have been 40+ incidents like this (hit-and-run leaving a law-abiding cyclist dead or severely injured), in the last 2 years.

I don't know what else to say. Thank you so much again!

Lance, I'm such a big fan of yours, I even gave 100 of your livestrong yellow band as party favors at my wedding anniversary last year ( most of my friends are either runners and/or cyclist ). Today I would like to let you know how thankful I am for your get-well message to the 5 cyclist struck by a van last Sunday here in Ottawa. If weren't for your bringing attention to it, the issue would probably be forgotten by today and no one would be talking about it but because of your message all news channels keep showing your message and talking about it. As a cyclist myself, I'm hoping your words will help get the message across that we are not practicing target for frustrated/impaired drivers who think that cyclists are better off as road kill. By the way, a 22-year-old male cyclist was seriously injured after being struck by a car Tuesday night, and another man believed to be in his 20s was hit by a truck today in Gatineau at 10:55 am. As I have said before, in Ottawa -- the CAPITAL of CANADA, a good cyclist is a dead cyclist. Thank you for being back and all the best in the Tour. Isabel Cruz, another Grateful Canadian Cyclist.

He has left his team behind and burned himself and the team!He just gave away a stage also to the brothers, It's not over till it's over!leave it all plus some on the road,You can do this lance! One more for the old guys!Your the best that's ever been and ever will be!I'll be happy no matter what!America has there champian for all time! and no one can ever take that away! So just empty your mind,Have fun with it,And go kick some @$$, God speed Brother,May the wind be at your back...smokenbull

Hats off to you and your team, You did a great job. My only wish would have been that AC would have rode as a team player. He did not have to risk the team for himself as you all rode with him. Personally, i think it was his fear of losing his lead that lead to his aggressive riding. You have rode with Class, Strenght and integrity, You will always be a true champion and I hope that you crush the competition next year! All the best to you and the team that you do assemble. Best wishes for the podium this year! AC May win this year, but he will not win with the same honor and respect that you have always had as a cyclist.

Just want to tell you that the TdF is not and will not be the same without you, I adore you not only for the great athlete you are but because of the beautiful person you are. Regardless of the result in this tof, you should know that you are already a winner and NOTHING will change that, not even the rummors and allegations from some losers against you. Just think about how many people you've inspired in the world, I love you so much. It was so great to see you yesterday, please stay in touch after the tof, we will miss you so much, I will not even watch the tof anymore since it will be so sad not seeing you there. Stay good WINNER! btw......are you interested in politics? you would be a great President!
