Mixed Martial Arts

Amateur vs. Pro Mixed Martial Arts

Mixed martial arts -- or MMA -- is a fighting and sparring technique that combines movements from a variety of martial arts forms, including karate, boxing, judo and tae kwon do. Although the sport of mixed martial arts does not have an official governing body, the Association of Boxing Commissions adopted a Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts in 2009. The rules are more stringent for amateur versus professional competitions.
