I live in Southern Califonia so it is easy to run all year long although that doesn't stop us from complaining about the cold or the heat! I started running 10 years ago to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Since that time I have run 16 marathons and counteless halves. When I first started to ask my friends to support me I thought they were going to keel over. I was one of those women/girls that didn't like to sweat or mess up my hair etc....those days are long gone and over the years my life has been so enriched. I have received so much support from so many people. I have made some life long friends and have incorporated running into my everyday life. I have also raised a lot of money. I am not fast but I finish and it has been a lot of fun.
As an oncology social worker I see so many amazing people who are fighting such challenging battles along with those who love them. I am so in awe of the courage I see on a daily basis and it truly humbles me. I consider myself to be so privileged to do this work. I am eternally grateful for such a wonderful and fulfilling career. Before becoming a social worker I was an attorney.... I went back to school in 1992....best decision I ever made.
I am particuarly thrilled to be doing the NYC marathon on this team. Thank you so much for this amazing opportunity. I am so proud to be a part of the LIVESTRONG army. NYC here I come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
