About Me
* Updated 2 April 2012! *

Since 2001, I have weighed approximately 197 pounds, fluctuating 5 pounds.

I lost 16 pounds in 2009, hitting an all-time low of 184. I faltered in the summer of 2010, and I had emergency gallbladder surgery in late summer 2010. My diet radically changed after surgery. My lifestyle changes and lack of responsibility led me to put on 19 pounds to reach 203. In March of 2011, I began a serious effort to change my eating habits and lost some of the weight I had regained.

Fitness History:
I was active all my childhood, biked around Memphis for a summer after college, and love walking. I'm a veteran of the 2006 and 2007 Self Challenges. I followed the New Rules of Lifting for Women workout, stage one, in spring of 2010. I enjoyed the challenges, but my body just started to give out, and I quit each regimen despite my success.

Conditions:
I have problems with my left knee due to a decade-old injury, torn meniscus. My right ankle is weak. I wear a brace on my left knee and a sleeve on my right ankle when I work out. I was diagnosed with plantar fasciitis in June 2010. I had laparoscopic gallbladder surgery in August 2010 and took six weeks to physically recover. I injured my shoulder in August 2009 and was diagnosed with frozen shoulder in July 2011, for which I then underwent physical therapy; my shoulder is 95% back to full function.

These injuries and conditions have stopped me from being active in all the ways I wanted to be, but I have healed, adapted workouts, and pushed on despite my temporary and permanent limitations. Physical therapy has helped my shoulder immensely.

Food:
I was a vegetarian for 8 years. I went back to eating meat after my gallstone diagnosis and for my post-surgery recovery. In February 2012, my doctor advised me to change my diet to one that is very like the paleolithic diet.
