About Me
Where to start? Well, I guess the present will do...

On March 18, 2010: I am overweight and I want this to change. I'm about 5'7", and my starting weight was 215 lbs (a US size 14/16). I used to be fairly active, although I've struggled with my weight all my life. In the past year, I've gained 30 pounds due to inactivity, poor nutrition, and emotional eating after I quit smoking.

On quitting smoking: I quit cold-turkey after reading Allan Carr's book, entitled "The Easy Way to Quit Smoking". I can't recommend this book enough. As far as I'm concerned, this book saved my life.

When I make my goal, I will reward myself with:
A surfing vacation!

For many of us, the journey to our healthy weight may be a year or longer, and it's so easy to lose focus in that amount of time. I think the members of this group who have set up multiple short-term goals on the way to their final goal weight may be doing the right thing to stay motivated.... so as of now, I'm setting my next short term goal:

SW: 215 -- CW: 201.2 -- GW: 140

1st Short term goal: 185

And when I get there, I will reward myself with $300 of new clothes. :)
