About Me
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have been overweight for most of my adult life. I started gaining weight in Junior High when recess was no longer an option and a junk food line was added as a "lunch" option.
I lived in Latvia for 2 years from 2000-2002 and during that time I went from about 250lbs to 195lbs. I was walking everyday (miles and miles) and had to cook all my own food. This was the healthiest I had been in a long time and I came back to America feeling great.
Shortly after moving back to America I started to gain weight. Before I knew it I was up to 300lbs. I started this account weighing 307lbs, my goal is to get to 220lbs and then to see what I think. I like the idea of getting back to 195lbs but I want to make sure I am healthy when I reach that goal.

More about me:
I love Music, Movies, and Sports. A few years ago my father passed away, he was 46 and I believe the cause in a round about way came back to his weight problem. At that point I realized I needed to lose weight before I had a similar fate.

After a few failed attempts I am back and doing well. I have been eating healthy and losing weight since I got food poisoning at Taco Bell (Oct. 11, 2010), my new starting weight was 320 lbs and I am currently at 257 lbs. Still motivated and looking forward to getting into the best shape of my life :)

Start weight: 320 (Oct. 11th 2010)
Current:257 (Aug. 17th 2011)
Mini Goal: 249
Long Term Goal:220

“ Hello everybody, I am new to the group and new to groups in general. I have used LiveStrong on and off for a while now. I started changing my lifestyle in October of 2010 when I weighed 320 lbs, as of today I am at 256 lbs and loving it. When I got into the 250s I eased up and that has cost me some time, a month or 2 where I didn't log and relaxed on my diet, that equaled no weight-loss. So here I am again, recommitted and ready to start heading back towards my weight-loss goals. I have been going to the gym for a couple of months now and am lifting weights more that in the past. I am looking to continue adding muscle and want to burn the fat off as fast as possible. I just ordered a BIA to use for checking my body fat % and hope to start using that as a guide to how my weight-loss is going.”

“ Hey, I am new to the whole group thing on LiveStrong but I am joining a few today and thought I would see how they work. I used to live for sports, Baseball, Basketball, Football, Golf, Roller Hockey, etc. etc. etc. When I was in High School I played on the football team and I was on the track team on and off. Neither of those two sports was my favorite but I was cut from both the Baseball and Basketball teams so I took what I could get. While in High School I was overweight but because of sports it kept my weight somewhat down. When High School ended I realized that my temper made playing basketball and football for fun impossible so I gave up those two sports and ended up only playing softball in a rec league in the summer and fall. As I got older my weight became more and more of an issue, I was at my healthiest in 2002 when I weighed about 190 lbs but by the end of 2003 I was working a desk job, newly married, and doing some school while my weight ballooned up to 290 lbs. When my dad passed in 2005 I committed myself to getting in shape but due to some unforseen demotivators I got down to 265, plateued, and then gave it up. My low point came in July of 2010 when I weighed in at 320 lbs and decided I was going to stop looking at the scale. The turning point in my story came from an unlikely source, Taco Bell. In October of 2010 I got what I believe was food poisoning from our local Taco Bell and when I finally started feeling better the only food that sounded good was salad. I started eating salad for lunch every day and dinner most nights, I was losing weight quickly and before I knew it I was back down below 300 lbs. I was making a lifestyle change and loving every minute of it, I started going for walks and watching what I was eating. I started tracking on LiveStrong in Feburary I believe and stayed with that pretty well until I got down to around 259 lbs, I hit a wall there and eventually stopped tracking. I am still in the 250's and am recommitting myself to lose the last 30+ lbs to reach my goal of 220 lbs.”

  • fatsarmstrong posted Where in the hell is the closest McDonalds!? in the group Where in the hell is the closest McDonalds!?
“ When I was a kid my family moved from California to Utah, my parents knew nothing about the state and were driving around trying to decide what city to live in. As my parents drove from one city to the next, commenting on how rural the area was, it finally hit my mom, her only requirement... Where in the hell is the McDonald's!? She was not about to move to a city that didn't have a McDonald's within a 5 minute drive from home. They found the next McDonald's off of I-15 and decided that this was the place for us to live. So now I ask, funny because it's true or just that you have to laugh to keep from crying? Glad to be in the group, new to groups in general on Livestrong, joined a few today and am looking to keep my motivation up and finish my goal of 100 lbs weight-loss. I started in October 2010 at 320, I am currently at 256lbs. I am a 29 year old dude, 6' tall, and am down to a 38" size for my jeans.”
