I am an ova-lacto vegetarian (eggs, milk) since 1987, who is not, or rather was not, a healthy vegetarian. Grilled cheese, cheese pizza, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and tons of Coca-Cola allowed me to save the animals, but not my weight or health. I still rely heavily on the carbs, but am really trying to incorporate more vegetables and proteins into my diet.
I swore to myself that I would not be fat when I turned 30 (I've always been too heavy), and now with my 40th birthday coming soon, I'm determined to make up for the past 10 years of "tomorrows" to start taking better care of myself today.
I'm a large girl with a large amount of weight to lose -- but I am excited to be doing this.
Now if I would just exercise...
UPDATE (5/10/08): Well, I now take water aerobics and walk 2.2 miles every few days and have already dropped 35 pounds since January. Only 39 more pounds to go. Woohoo! BTW, I still don't *enjoy* exercising -- but I do it.
