Dr. Micheal A. Clark, DPT, MS, PT, CES, PES, joined the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) as president, chief executive officer and partner in 2000. An industry visionary, he is the creator of the NASM exclusive Optimum Performance Training™ (OPT) methodology used by health and fitness professionals worldwide. His innovation and vision have redefined NASM as a global leader in fitness, performance and sports-medicine information that empowers individuals to live active and healthy lives.

Recognized as one of the top physical therapists in the industry, Clark has rehabilitated, reconditioned and trained hundreds of professional and amateur elite athletes. His list of athlete-clients includes a MLB Cy Young award winner, NBA All-Stars, NBA Rookies of the Year, NBA Most Valuable Players, NFL All-Pros, world champion figure skaters, national champions, Olympic gold medalists and hall of fame athletes.

He currently serves as the team physical therapist to the Phoenix Suns. Previously he served as a physical therapist for the St. Lucia national team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and Team USA Boxing at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Clark is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Orthopedic Physical Therapy Association and Sports Physical Therapy Association. He is a noted lecturer and author who also serves on the Board of Directors for American Specialty Health Silver & Fit program.

He received his doctor of physical therapy from Rocky Mountain University, a master of science in human movement from the University of North Carolina, and a bachelor of science in exercise and sports science from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.
Clark enjoys golf, basketball and reading. He lives in Chandler, Arizona with his wife, Melissa, and their three daughters.
