I was always an active and healthy kid, but during my teenage years my parents moved back to the big city and I started leading a very sedentary life and consequently gained a lot of weight (around 60lbs). When I moved abroad I decided to change my eating habits not only because I wanted to lose weight, but out of concern with my health. I had cardiac problems due to bad eating habits and little exercise. In 6 months I had lost 60lbs with better eating habits and lots of exercise. My heart problem was gone and I was feeling great. Three years later and a few relationships gone bad, I had gained all the weight back. Now I just turned 29 and I finally realized that if I don't take care of myself while I'm still young (I'm not that young, I know :p), I may have problems later in life.
I started a diet (more like changing eating/exercising habits) on Aug 10th, but unfortunately I haven't been keeping track of how much weigh I've lost. Now I try to work out everyday on my own (I don't do well in gyms) and I make healthier food choices. I'm hoping to hit 160lbs by early Feb next year so I can look good and enjoy Carnaval parading with a samba school.
