About Me
I'm a 29 year old graduate with an Aircraft Engineering honours degree.

I've always been aware of the fact that I am over weight, and have tried a variety of diets over the last couple of years that have never quite panned out that well. I guess i just wasn't that serious, and there was a certain amount of denial about my weight.

Four years ago I was down at just under of 17st (somewhere around the 230lb mark). Given that I play rugby, that was a good weight, it allowed a certain amount of mobility, whilst maintaining power in open play and at rucks and mauls and weight for the scrum.

I then met my partner and I got lazy, going to McDonalds for lunch, going out for a meal and my weight started to increase, this was then exasperated when i quit smoking, two years ago and my weight ballooned. Latest weigh in - 316 pounds or 22st 8lb. But there is more, I thought I'd get this done properly and find out what my body fat percentage done as well, and that is 37.3% apparently.

So, the reason for this change? Embarrassment

I had to go for an endoscopy and whilst I was sitting on the bed, the nurses were uncertain as to whether the bed was capable of holding me for the procedure. Then there is the fact that I have a hiatus hernia, which will be soothed if I lose weight, then, there is the fact that I only have 3 pairs of trousers that fit me now, and I'm too cheap to buy more, and it is difficult to get them in a size that fit in standard shops.

I also don't want to be another statistic about obesity, with all the illness' that go with it. I want to lose the weight whilst it is MY idea

And finally, as I previously mentioned, now that I am a graduate, I don't want be a fat blob in front of a prospective employer, as lets face it, we are discriminated against. So instead of trying to change the world, how about I start smaller and change me?

My weigh in - 316 pounds, 22st 8lb as off 27th Aug 2010
My "ideal" - 172 pounds Not going to attempt that just now
My Personal goal - 200 pounds, or 14st 4lb

Weight to lose - 116 pounds or 8st 4lb (thats a person!!!)

Percentage lost to date - 17.72%

Percentage of goal (116lbs) - 48.27%

Body fat percentage - 30.3% (as at04/04/11)

I think it may be an idea to break it down a bit to make it less daunting so for the moment, my targets look a little like this
