I am a 40-year-old mother of 2 (18 and 10), and currently dating the love of my life. I'm not your typical yo-yo dieter - my gains and losses have happened over the course of years. Just before Thanksgiving 2006, I was at the highest weight I'd ever been without being pregnant... YIKES! I started searching and reading everything I could find about weight loss. Did alright in the beginning - lost about 15 lbs. fairly steadily. (Of course, cutting out large nightly dishes of ice cream, and daily doses of peanut butter M&M's helped that a LOT!) I started walking nearly every day. Then I hit a plateau. After a month of staying at the same weight and wondering WHY??, I realized that the one thing I wasn't doing was tracking my daily calories in and out. I thought I was doing ok with watching what I ate... until I found The Daily Plate and started brutally tracking every little bite, every time I eat. WOW. Since then, I've steadily taken off the weight. At the end of every day, I can see what I've consumed and burned. It's pretty hard to lie to myself, and pretty hard to forget what I ate.
