“:)! Hi Everyone!
I have been so up and down with my weight loss journey over the last 2 years that I began to question whether or not I could lose weight at this point. So I made a deal with myself to try a new "diet" this past month and either lose weight or give up and just accept my size. Well, I lost weight! I have finally figured out how to lose a pound a week! I think that I am allergic to eating out. You may laugh, but it doesn't seem to matter if I am counting calories or not; eating out makes me gain weight. I don't get it but I am pretty rational so I am accepting reality. :)! Only coffee, tea and salad (no meat, no bread, no croutons) at restaurants. It just seems like there are hidden calories in any processed food...even Jamba Juice. ??? So I have read a million diets and nutrition books and websites. I figure everything comes down to adding more vegetables, using fruit as a dessert and eating lean cuts of meat, chicken or fish. I also think that natural fats are good (butter, cold pressed oils) in moderation. I find dairy to be a luxury as well as grains, so those I limit as flavorings or treats. I think the traditional American meal is too rich and we don't need to have a main course with 2 side dishes and dessert at every meal. Just a bowl of soup can be the meal or just a salad with chicken. It may be common sense, but since food is really social and traditional for my family, it is a big deal to change the way we eat together. I don't bake every week any more, just monthly and we save Sunday dinner for just Sunday. Otherwise we are eating a lot of one pot meals and snacking on veggies. Tea with a fruit tray has become a big deal in our house as we have stuggled to find a good dessert and coffee alternative. :)! Now, that I think I have the diet part mastered I can finally start this challenge. I was working so hard counting calories and trying to fit in meaningless exercise while still yo-yoing up and down on the scale. I am hoping that when I add consistent (meaning daily) exercise, I will be able to get down past the 200 mark, see my edema clear up that hasn't gone away since my last pregnancy (baby is over 1 now!) and reduce some back pain. Wish me luck! Any easy exercise plans that have worked for you? I think realistically, I won't have time to get to a gym, so my exercise regimen will have to be home-based and fit in under an hour a day.”
