About Me
My Journey
06/09/08 - Tipped the scales at 225. Pants sz 20 shirts xxl

A friend said the words to me "It is all downhill from 40" (referring to weight loss) so at 38 I made the decision to make life changes.

I decided not to go on a "diet" per say, but rather make life changes. From June through November I walked and walked and walked. Started a mile a day, two, three, four... then averaging about 5 per day and topping at 10.

November I joined the gym and added circuit training to my daily routine. It helped planning to meet someone there every day. There was anyone else in my life interested in making a committment to fitness so I met folks at the gym.

Bought good quality outdoor gear and learned to enjoy the winter.

My life runs in cycles of summers as I run a summer camp. I felt great. I could run with the 20 somethings that I work with. Feeling great.

That fall I continued walking everyday. Wouldn't settle for the night until I had walked at least 5 miles. I started serious strength training 3 days per week, circuit the other 3 and stomach exercises everyday.

12/8/2009 140 pounds Pants 10 Shirt M In the fittest shape of my life. Went back to Australia for almost two month and felt confident wearing a bikini for the first time since I was 12.

Coming back from Oz, I just never really got back in to the routine of exercising and eating right :(

Horrible summer - Mono coupled with Strep. Little exercise, energy and motivation.

It is so easy to gain weight and lose all the efforts of toning and strength training. Made the decision that if I don't make a change I would inch my weight back to over 200 pounds in no time at all.

It has been a rough winter. I am on the fourth week of being sick.... but must find the motivation to exerice. Both my partner and I have adjusted our food intake to be healthier and actually much tastier.

Been a rough winter. I have been sick for but getting stronger and while not too excited about it.. about to get back on the program until it becomes routine again. I am surrounded by many folks working at it so they keep me honest and wanting to stick with it. My gym buddy hasn't been going so I am going to get her re committed as it is harder not to go when you are meeting someone.

So I am only 20 pounds heavier than my lowest... 10 pounds more than what is realistically managable with out going crazy but waist is 6 inches larger..... Carrying more flab than muscle... MUST START EXERCISING!!!

Summer camp is over and I did an alright job maintaining but didn't loose any weight... perhaps gained some muscle but no where I want to be.

Started the biggest loser challenge on the group... weighing in at 163.4. Pant size 12. Shirt L. Under the encouragement (:)) of my mother inlaw.... subtly buying me the book "The 17 day Diet" I have decided to try a focussed effort. Both her and her husband have lost weight - 30 and 60 pounds. My partner is enthusiastic about this diet so there is no harm in trying.

My own mother wants me back in Oz to visit and there is no way I could proudly where a bikini this time around.

Goal: Get down to 145 or 150... more importantly fit comforably in size 12 and maybe inch back into my size 10 pants. Wish me luck!
