    I think I did pretty well this week. I was down 2 to 4 lbs all week and when my long weekend started with a day off on Friday I took a "You burned them, you earned them" approach, eating/drinking back all calories I had burned during exercise that day. Last night my wife and I celebrated our anniversary with a nice steak dinner and a huge tub of popcorn (each) at the movies.(and I'm pretty sure that exceeded the 2000 calories I burned on my bike ride earlier in the day). With all that sodium from last night I expected to weigh more this morning, but the scale still says I was 0.5 lbs down from last Monday. Back to regular today...nothing fancy or fattening scheduled for Memorial Day.

    Jackson's Challenge Starting weight: 308 lbs   
    Current weight: 225 lbs Goal: 208 lbs I went to the doctor last week for my diabetic checkup and my A1C (this is the number that represents how high your blood glucose has been over the past 2 to 3 months) came back as 5.4%, which means it was non-diabetic!. Non-diabetics have an A1C under 6% and for diabetics it is recommended to get under 7%. I started out in November at 14%! (see a chart at  http://www.a1cchart.org/ ). So this was great news! My doctor and I were discussing my weight loss and he said I should probably lose about another 20 lbs to be at a good weight, based on my build. And this was exactly what I had in mind myself before talking to him. My original goal of 198 was a bit too low, based on how I look now. I have also lost some muscle weight because I didn't do strength training and suspect I would just look too scrawny if I would continue to 198. So I'm changing my start date and weight to a week earlier, when I started using Livestrong and started tracking calories. I joined the Jackson Challenge exactly 1 week later and I had already lost 10 lbs in the first week. So my new goal is to get to 208, then maintain and stay anywhere from 205 to 215, working on re-developing some muscle. One thing is for sure: I will continue to count calories through Livestrong, because it just works! ”
