Aunt Aggies Oatmeal Cookies

Aunt Agnes sent this recipe to my mother-in-law when she was raising her sons. I inherited that recipe today. On the bottom of the recipe Aunt Aggie wrote this P.S. "This summer I have tried lots of oatmeal cookie recipes, so I'm sending you the one that always turns out good, and they never last long at our house.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Raisins, Seedless
- 1/2 cup Hot Water
- 2 cups Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Enriched, Unbleached
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Nutmeg, Ground
- 1 tsp Cinnamon Ground
- 2 cups Quick Oats (rolled)
- 1 cup Dark Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cup Walnuts Chopped
- 2 egg
- 1 tsp Pure Vanilla Extract
- 3/4 cup Vegetable Oil
Directions
Preheat oven to 350
Add raisins to hot water and set aside.
In a large bowl combine the following and mix well. Add spices, salt soda, flour, oats, sugar and nuts.
In smaller bowal:
Eggs and beat well with a fork, then add oil and UNDRAINED raisins and vanilla. Stir together and por into the dry mixture. Stir, just until well blended. Drop by teaspoonful on to ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 350 degrees, 10 to 13 minutes.
Makes 4-5 dozen
