Ingredients
- 3 lb Chicken Breast (boneless,skinless)
- 2 medium Yellow Onion
- 2 cups Whole Carrots
- 2 cups Fresh Celery Hearts
- 5 cups Tap Water
- 1 1/2 cups Robin Hood All Purpose Flour
- 1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/4 cup All-Vegetable Shortening
- 1 cup Milk 2%
- 1 tsp Marjoram, Dried
- 3/4 tsp Pure Ground Black Pepper
- 1 1/2 tsp Salt
Directions
Put chicken, onions (cut into wedges), marjoram, 3/4 tsp salt, pepper, and water in dutch oven. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer 25 minutes. Add thinly sliced carrots and celery. Return to boil, cover and simmer 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, mix flour, baking powder, and 3/4 tsp salt. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Add milk and stir.
Drop batter on top of chicken pieces. Cook, covered, 15 minutes.
