Chocolate Chip Cookies - High Protein

Experimental chocolate chip cookie recipe. Attempting to increase protein and fiber content.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups White Flour, Unbleached
- 1 1/4 cups White Whole Wheat Flour
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Salt
- 6 tbsp Unsalted Butter
- 6 tbsp All-Vegetable Shortening
- 3/4 cup Sugar, Granulated
- 3/4 cup Brown Sugar
- 1/2 cup Wheat Bran
- 1/2 cup Hazelnuts Or Filberts
- 1/3 cup Whey Protein 40g
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 2 Eggs
- 1 cup Toll House Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips
- 1 cup Chocolate Chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 F. Place rack in middle of the oven. Note - this is an experimental recipe and needs some tinkering.
In the large bowl of an electric mixer, cream butter, shortening and sugars until smooth and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Add soda and salt, mix well. Add whey powder. Add flours, bran, and ground hazelnuts 1/2 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add chips, mix gently.
Drop using two teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 9-11 minutes. To ensure even baking, rotate baking sheet halfway through baking time.
