Portuguese Sweet Bread, an Easter tradition
Ingredients
- 10 cups All-purpose White Flour
- 2 1/2 cups Sugar
- 9 Eggs
- 1 1/2 cups Organic Unsalted Butter
- 1 cup Milk
- 2 tsp Salt*
- 3 package Activedry Yeast
Directions
Dissolve yeast in warm water and 1 cup sugar – let sit 5 minutes. Beat eggs with the sugar and salt. Scald milk and melt butter in it. Mix everything together in large bowl and add flour. Knead well. Let rise for 3 or 4 hours. Form breads in greased pans and let rise again. Bake at 300º - 325º around 45 minutes.
