Doughnuts get such a bad rap. This recipe includes no guilt or remorse. It's awesome chewy soft doughnuts with way better health stats than a normal doughnut! No frying involved!
Ingredients
- 202 g Small Banana
- 1/2 cup Egg Whites
- 1 tbsp All Natural Pure Vegetable Oil
- 3/4 cup Light Brown Sugar
- 1 1/2 cups All-purpose Flour
- 3/4 cup Whole Wheat Flour
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
Directions
Preheat oven to 425 F and grease baking sheet.
Beat bananas, egg whites, oil and brown sugar in large bowl. Add flours, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon. Mix until well blended.
Let stand for 5 minutes to let dough rise.
Scoop out heaping tablespoons and place on baking sheet equally spread apart. Take and buttered knife and finger to form doughnut holes in the center of each. Smooth edges of dough into a round doughnut as much as possible. It will be difficult as the dough is sticky. Do not feel discouraged - they don't have to be perfect! Sprinkle with 1 tbsp white sugar.
Place in oven for 7-8 minutes at 425 F.
*I did not sprinkle any sugar on them and they tasted just fine. Also, DO NOT overbake them, if anything underbake them a little. My first batch was very tough and it only went 8 minutes. I let the others out at 6 minutes and they were delicious and doughy!
