Savoury home baked onion and garlic dinner rolls with buttered tops and Italian herbs
Ingredients
- 1/2 medium White Onion
- 2 Garlic Clove
- 2 tbsp Butter
- 5 1/2 cups All Purpose Flour (canada)
- 4 tsp Active Dry Yeast
- 2 tsp Salt, Table
- 2 tbsp Granulated White Sugar
- 2 cups Tap Water
- 1 tbsp Italian Herb Seasoning Grinder
- 1 tbsp Parsley
- 1 tbsp Butter
Directions
In a large bowl I placed 4 cups flour, 2 tsp salt, about a tbsp of Italian mixed herbs, 2 tbsp sugar and 4 tsp quick yeast and mixed.
Added onions, a tbsp of fresh chopped parsley, 2 cups of water at 125F and mixed well, adding about an additional cup of so of flour to make a nice dough. Kneaded really well for 8-10 mins. Placed in greased bowl, covered and let rise about an hour.
Punched down (stretch, turn and fold, rather than punching) once and let rise again for another 45 mins. punched down and let rest for 10 mins. Greased a 9x13 inch pan with butter, preheated oven to 400F.
Pulled off bits of dough and rolled into 2-3" spheres and placed in pan (I ended up with three rows of five making 15 balls). I covered them again and let them rise another 30 mins or so before baking. They took about 30 mins (brown tops and hollow sound when tapped) I buttered the tops right away and turned them onto the rack after about 2 mins.
