Osso Bucco is a Milanese specialty dish that highlights the beef shank. This incredibly simple version requires only the beef, onions, potatoes and some crushed tomatoes.

1. Season all sides of the shank with salt, and pepper.
2. If your slow cooker has a sauté setting use it to sear all sides of the shank and each side of the onion slices. If it doesn’t, sear in an oil-sprayed pan on the stove.
3. Surround the shank with sliced onions and potatoes. Cover the shank with stock and crushed tomatoes. Season with salt, and pepper.
4. Cook for 8 to 9 hours.
