How to Jump Turn When Skiing

While skiing veterans often prefer recreational riding disciplines, young skiers generally gravitate toward freestyle maneuvers. Freestyle skiing, often referred to as slope style, involves aerial jumps and rotations. The freestyle ski features an identically shaped front and back tip that allows you to ride in a backward or fakie stance. The jump turn is the basis for all freestyle skiing tricks. ABC-of-Skiing recommends performing your jump turn on a small ramp to ensure that you have enough time to complete the full rotation.
