Present from the start of camp, Retul was on-site to assist riders and mechanics in collecting data and setting up new bikes. Check out the photos of Andy and Frank Schleck as the Retul team examines their cleat placement, saddle and handlebar position, pedaling style, and overall form on the bike.

Retul begins by collecting a rider’s initial data using a three-dimensional motion capture system. Sensors are placed across a rider’s body to capture accurate measurements lateral, vertical and horizontal movement…down to the millimeter. With such precise calculations, the Retul team can then pinpoint an issue. For example, if a rider is having issues with back pain, a trend in Retul fittings has been to examine the saddle positioning or the 3D knee tracking. Is the saddle too far back causing excessive stress, etc.?

After analyzing data, the Retul team then suggests position changes. From there, it’s up to the rider to make those changes based on additional input from coaches and physiotherapists. With a new team, Retul will diligent work to ensure each new bikes are set up accurately for each rider.  The result: a true fit, maximum efficiency and injury pervention.

In a sport where every second counts, it's all in the details...or millimeters.
