About Stage 10
By Chris Brewer
Following yesterday’s high drama, today looks on paper to be a tad easier.  But by now the cream has risen to the top somewhat and legs are getting tired.  The Cat 1 climb is early on and the Cat 2 and unrated climb just before the finish don’t look tactically important.  I would look to see a successful escape today for a stage hunter, while the main rivals watch each other and reset for the Pyrenees later in the race.

About Chambéry
Stage 10 begins in Chambéry, marking the end of mountainous cycling for a few days. Although this is only the second year in which Chambéry has been a stage town for the Tour, the name is certainly not new to cycling. The eight-stage Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré cycling race was organized in Chambéry 20 times.

Located in the Rhone-Alpes region of France near the Italian border, Chambéry is renowned for its solar energy power and urban planning. It is also an ecological center: the Eureka Gallery and its Espace Montagne exhibition educate visitors on the Alps, and the city is home to the headquarters of the Vanoise National Park. Like the town of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, Chambéry will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the annexation of the Savoy department by France, through cultural and sporting events.

About Gap
By Rachel Horn
Located in the Hautes-Alpes area of France, the town of Gap divides the northern and southern Alps, and sits directly on the Napoleonic route taken by the former French leader upon his return from Elba.

Gap is an athletic center for all types of sports. During the winter, visitors can cross-country ski on the Gap Bayard. In the summer, this area becomes a golf course. Gap is also home to 50 kilometers of tracks used for mountain biking. The Gap-Charance park contains nature study trails as well as a rose garden with 600 varieties of roses. Visitors to Gap can partake in aerial sports such as parachuting, hang-gliding and hot air ballooning. The area also has five kilometers of cliffs for rock climbing. It's no surprise that this is the 20th time Gap serves as a stage town for the Tour.
