Training Camps Conclude

Training camps have concluded as Team RadioShack riders departed Calpe, Spain and Scottsdale, Arizona. With the holidays around the corner, riders and staff will spend time with family and friends before the Tour Down Under kicks off the season, January 16 - 23, 2011.
The final night of Calpe camp proved particularly memorable when Chechu Rubiera, his wife Laura and son Noah joined everyone for team dinner. The directors treated the riders and staff to a final meal at a seafood restaurant on the beach. The team gifted Chechu with a signed picture of him in his typical style - pulling the peloton uphill with longtime teammate and Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong in tow. Chechu also received the last race bike of his career...A small token of appreciation for his dedication and friendship over the years. After 16 years in the sport, Chechu completed his final professional race at the Criterium in Oviedo on October 30, 2010.
Meanwhile in Scottsdale, Arizona...Lance and crew concluded camp with a 50-mile ride. Riders took in the blue skies and cactus lining the roads - especially Bjorn Selander who appreciated the absence of snow - a typical view on his Wisconsin training rides. Towards the end of the ride, the guys took a detour to a local mountain biking track. The loop was once home to the Arizona Cactus Cup mountain bike race. The riders enjoyed the change of pace as Jason and Levi raced a lap and others attempted a few technical tricks - not the easiest feat on road bikes!
Both camps were blessed with excellent training weather - the cherry on top of a week of valuable team-building. Thanks for sharing the experiences with us. Happy Holidays from Team RadioShack...We look forward to bringing you along in the New Year.
