At a Glance
• Three-time USA Cycling National Racing Calendar Champion (2002-2004).
• Was very unlucky in 2009. Broke his left hand in the Tour of Spain, his collarbone and a rib in the Tour of the Basque Country and his left leg in the Tour of Italy.
• Has won a stage or been on the podium in some of the biggest US races, including the Overall at the Tour de Georgia (2003), Redlands Bicycle Classic (2000, 2002-2004), Sea Otter Classic (2002, 2004).
• Reunited with Team Director Alain Gallopin, who had Chris on his in team in 1998-1999 (Française des Jeux) and 2001 (Mercury).
• When the road season ends, Chris races cyclocross
• In only his second race, he crashed at the University of San Diego Grand Prix, but it
was also there in 1991 that he had his first taste of victory, beating future champ Lance Armstrong.
• While many cyclists stick to a very healthy diet, Chris was often found eating hamburgers, cookies and other yummy snacks during the season.
