At a Glance

Won the Tour de France a record-breaking seven consecutive years, from 1999 to 2005 (22 stage wins and 83 days in yellow jersey), all of them with Johan Bruyneel as Team Director. At the age of 21, he was the youngest road cycling world champion ever. He survived testicular cancer in 1996.

Lance Armstrong retired from racing on July 24, 2005, but returned successfully to road racing in January 2009. He finished third in the Tour de France in 2009.
