Always smiling, Popo is an all-around rider. He performs well in the classics (U23 Paris-Roubaix winner and world champion) as well as uphill (3rd in Tour of Italy 2003, best Young Rider, Tour de France 2005). In the last several years, he prefers to work for other riders. He is an indispensable teammate in the mountains. Popo is soon take make his “directorial” debut, guiding audiences along the roads of the 2009 Tour de France. Riding alongside Lance Armstrong in his comeback season, cameras positioned on his bike captured the race from mountain-top to finish lines.
