Dirk Demol grew up in cycling-mad Belgium. He started to ride a bike as a way to get out of working in the factory for the rest of his life. He succeeded. Dirk won the greatest Spring Classic, the 1988 edition of Paris-Roubaix. After his cycling career, he became sports director of an amateur team until Johan Bruyneel called him in 2000. Johan knew the capacities of Dirk to “read” and predict a race. With his communicative abilities, he would be his perfect assistant to help his riders win many races. Dirk is specialized in the Classics and other one-day races, but also versed in Grand Tour Strategy. He helped Lance Armstrong to six of his seven Tour de France victories.
