Tour de France
Stage 20:  Longjumeau to Paris, 102.5km/64mi
By Cathy Mehl

Even the final day of the Tour de France provided drama as the peloton of 170 prepared to ride to Paris.  Team RadioShack appeared on the start line in a new black kit with the number ‘28’ on the back, representing the 28 million people living with cancer.  With the UCI rejecting the change of kit, the team quickly switched back to the originals until their appearance on the final podium for winning the Teams classification.  As all nine men lined up to the loud applause of the massive crowd, the message of hope to those dealing with cancer went around the world, bringing to the forefront once more that the battle against cancer continues and everyone is affected by this disease.

Part parade, part circuit race, and all celebration.  The Tour finishes with a club ride into the streets of Paris followed by multiple circuits around the Champs Elysees.  Winning this stage is a tremendous honor, and then the real party begins as the 2010 Tour de France champion is crowned on the final podium!

Tour de France
Stage 19: Bordeaux to Pauillac, 52km/32mi
By Cathy Mehl

There’s no better time to stamp your authority on a race than in the final "racing" stage and that’s just what defending champion Alberto Contador (Astana) did in the time trial of stage 19.  Holding only 8-seconds to Andy Schleck (Saxo Bank) at the start of the race, Contador steadily built on his advantage over the 52km/32mi course, adding a solid 31 more seconds to secure his third Tour de France victory.   Early predictions that Schleck would lose substantial time proved to be wrong and the 25-year old Luxembourger looks to be a solid contender against  Contador in the coming years. Team RadioShack's Lance Armstrong rode his last Tour time trial and received tremendous cheers of support along the course.  The 7-time Tour champion will ride into Paris on Sunday and close the chapter on thirteen participations in the biggest bike race in the world.

About Stage 19
By Chris Brewer
Depending on the standings, today is either a coronation of the race winner, or the final battle for overall victory.  “The race of truth” has seen many a rider gain or lose everything in the hour long solo ride to Pauillac.  Probably only about 10-15 riders will have a serious desire for a good result, the rest will be content to make the time cut and dream of Paris tomorrow.
