looks like you need another gear!
by cameltrophy3 on February 10, 2010 at 7:55 PM
"Gonna take you by surprise and make you realize...Amanda!" Boston rules.
This looks like the Lance Armstrong Muppet with all the shag carpet.
by chucklist on February 10, 2010 at 8:06 PM
Boston? Wow, someone is dating themselves, who ever is filming.
I am struck by the obvious that there seems to be a very smooth flow with the exception of behind the arms and legs, two things that can't really be smooth, and the UCI says no fairings.
by prissygma7 on February 10, 2010 at 8:18 PM
Do you feel it?! Can you hear it?! Be very afraid TdF peleton, be VERY afraid!!!
by speedoflite1 on February 10, 2010 at 8:45 PM
Your awesome cadence & suppleness is good as usual, but you still haven't ditched that humpback. No pressure, but the humpless (Alberto, Cancellara, Levi, Zabriskie), will again appear to have the advantage: psychologically and dragwise. No pressure, but you can beat Contador; one on one. ...you've got the power, will & experience to do it!
by blacktiger1111 on February 10, 2010 at 9:07 PM
Lance, my man, you NEED Egoscue! Your back position could be so much better! We have clinics all around the country, drop into one and check it out. It will blow you away, change your riding position for the better, and allow you to be even faster on the bike! www.egoscue.com

how about keeping your front wheel in a straight line? ;-))
by DavybUK on February 10, 2010 at 11:51 PM
Ditch the Adamo Saddle... puts all the weight on the elbows at the front end, no leverage at the back to apply force to the legs = power reduction. Thats what I found anyway.
by pinoybiker on February 11, 2010 at 2:21 AM
training, training, training, thats what made Lance what he is today! Legend!

sexy!
by singsy on February 11, 2010 at 4:15 AM
Looking awesome, but you need to keep looking forward, the helmet is designed to work best with the tail sitting along your back not pointing skyward - head up and still.
by DayneNash on February 11, 2010 at 4:59 AM
Damn you need a version of the video on this page that works on an iPhone previous videos you've tweeter worked. :(
by ccgilkerson on February 11, 2010 at 6:11 AM
You had a pretty good tailwind there...does that affect the outcome of the test?
by jlputma on February 11, 2010 at 6:38 AM
It's amazing that you get all of these "tips" from people who couldn't last 5 minutes in the TDF let alone win it multiple times.

Nothing like a bunch of amateurs offering advice to the WORLD'S GREATEST CYCLIST! Hunch your back, look down, hell stick your tongue out if you like. Come July you?ll show them all how little it matters! GO LANCE!

Actually the air flow over LA's back looks laminar and smooth. It's a good aerodynamic airfoil. Changing his arch will mess that up. I wonder why TRS has ditched their gloves?

launch force, shown in the tour de france you're the best
by cespinosa on February 11, 2010 at 11:33 AM
surprised with the very low turbulence in your back. In your sides there is a little turbulence more difficult to reduce I think. Testing for new clothes, special position on bike or to improve all of that?
by Garybaxter1 on February 11, 2010 at 12:55 PM
LIVESTRONG!Lance.......
by cesarjo on February 11, 2010 at 2:10 PM
there's no "testing" going on here, that's all done with Lance in the windtunnel. Lance is simply getting a feel for the new TT bike here, where he may make bike position adjustments. Lance's unorthodox TT position is well known by now and he has commented on it being due to his hips not rolling fwd; even Lance can't make his body do something it was not anatomically designed to do; i'd say he's found a workaround :)
by commandorider on February 11, 2010 at 4:16 PM
maybe some for of insert or rubber edging in the back of the arms and side of the thighs may help reduce the turbulence! if they are stitched or sleeved into the suit there will little weight gain.
by TheHitcher on February 12, 2010 at 3:39 AM
Behold the tape worm suit.....finally! The ultimate fat burner, the faster you go, the more fat they eat! From so many angles in life, Lance is just a top geezer! Good luck Mr Armstrong, good luck! X

whats that crap on your gear?
by Bongoeight on February 15, 2010 at 7:02 PM
My wife is a CFD expert. She says Lance should have a suit that covers his legs and arms and hands - thinking along the lines of new swim suits that minimize drag. Think of the dimples on golf balls, shark skin, etc.

What an awesome machine, what an awesome motor powering that machine. Ferrari has nothing on the Trek TT bike.If I had to pick between the two, Trek would win hands down. Lance is the best athlete in our lifetime; in the history of sport. How fortunate we are to have him back racing again, while promoting cycling, and Cancer research. Watch every video of Lance, study his every move and technique on the bike. We all have different body profiles and fitness levels, but there is something we can take from watching Lance ride, figure out whats works for you, in the end, it can only make you a better cyclist. If watching Lance doesnt motivate you, nothing will. LiveSTRONG!

2010 tour de france is for lance. strong team, great coach, and excellent bike. good luck team radioshack.
by inverse137 on March 5, 2010 at 11:31 AM
These people giving "tips,"....you all remember he one the Tour de France 7 times, right? And placed 3rd after a 3 year hiatus..???
What possible advice could you give the greatest cyclist ever?
This is like me giving Jordan tips on driving to the basket, or correcting Tiger's swing, or helping Barry Bonds push to the opposite field. Maybe I could give Lincecum a few pointers on the mechanics of his wind-up.
There are some things that just make you look foolish.
by jasondewey on March 5, 2010 at 1:18 PM
I think you should produce and sell the wormsuit and the $$ can go to Livestrong - think of all the triathletes who would want one in lieu of wind tunnel time? Seriously!
by khdroberts on March 5, 2010 at 7:03 PM
What I can't believe is all of these posters giving lance riding advice! Especially the ones giving advice on Lance's 'bad back position'!!! Do you know nothing of Lance??? He's got a problem with his spine that forces him to ride in this position.
No amount of idiotic 'clinics' are going to alter his basic skeletal structure.
And to all the others giving him advice on what seat to use or how to hold his head - get a grip and lower your own self opinion.

people giving pointers, people criticizing the pointer givers. LOL has anyone ever heard that collaborative phrase: two heads are better than one. ? Lance did not get where he is, without input from many many people who have helped him refine his act over years of making adjustments. If people/anyone observes things they feel may be "off" and comment on their observations, that isn't a crime, having an opinion isn't a crime...and they may have been observations that Lance's team is at that very moment, making themselves. U just never know. The internet is a great forum for people to (mindlessly react and) go into the attack mode I've seen however, unfortunately. The nail that stands up, gets hammered. Not one of the more positive things about human nature...and Lance is all about being positive, so in your attacking stance, you're actually contradicting what he believes in.
