About Me:

I'm a 26 year old IT Project Manager living with my husband in a cute little apartment in a cute little town. We've been together since 2000 and recently made it official on September 17, 2011. When I'm not working (which I do a LOT) or working out, I spend my time divided between my horse, my cooking, my gaming and my reading. I've been riding since I was 8 and have a 21 year old appendix quarter horse named Nick who is mostly retired due to my work schedule and his bad knees. He's living out his days in the absolute lap of luxury. I play RPGs whenever I have time, which isn't often lately. You can often find my friends and me spending our weekend nights with a few drinks and a game of good old fashioned Dungeons and Dragons. I also adore finding new recipes. I am master of the Crock Pot with an evolving love of new kitchen gadgets and baking implements. To maintain weight, I run 2 or 3 times a week and work with a resistance band 2 or 3 times a week. In a good week that's 6 work outs, in a normal week it ends up closer to 5. I'm working towards running my second half marathon in May 2013 after spending the first few months of 2012 in physical therapy for runner's knee. I'm attempting to live a more vegan lifestyle but find myself landing somewhere closer to vegetarian a lot of the time.

Good idea! TGIF!! ;)
Glad to hear you are taking a break. Are you still having issues with anemia? I HAVE to take my iron pills or would end up asleep at my desk by 1pm. I wish I knew why my body doesn't process iron well, but my mom had the same problem.
Enjoy your weekend.
From deb1207:
hope you have a great weekend and get to enjoy some eating, drinking, socializing, good times.

Can you say PMS? I ate so much last night. Could not stop it! I don't really mind though... if a binge day takes me to 2300 I'm not going to freak out. Plus, I did track everything so teeeechnically I'm still on track for all of my goals. Honestly though I was starving.

I got up and went for a run this morning and I feel terrible! I think I should have made it a rest day. I'm cramping like no one's business. I want to crawl in to a hole and die. Unfortunately, I have plenty to do today so that's not an option.

The most redeeming part of my day is that the company picnic is from noon to 4. I doubt I'll stay the whole time, but it will be nice to get away. They're going to have veggie burgers too, which is good! Also, tonight is a walk night for Nick so I don't need to worry about working him. He did great yesterday and needs a day to just walk around.

Ugh. I hate cramps. This hurts. A lot.

Sorry you are having a bad day... At least it is not a back to back kind of meeting day..
Take care and enjoy the picnic!!!

I hate cramps too. Can you take something for it? This stuff helps me: I have been using it for a long time:

From momtoabc:
My dr. suggested to take a tylenol a day(reg. dosage, follow directions) or so before the TOM then continue as needed, it does help! The pain is less severe.

good job getting out there for that jog though!

Waking up was hard this morning. If it weren't for the fact that I was planning to do UML, which is an easier work out, and knowing that I won't have time after work I might still be asleep!

I have meetings for 6 straight hours today, so I won't be on much. Lots and lots of work to do. Gotta get my head in the game and shake off this drowsy feeling.

I walked Nick last night which means today is a work day for him. I hope he's as good as he was when we worked on Monday!

Mood: Okay
Soooo bloated. Sometimes being a girl is just horrible.

It was a fantastic long weekend and I want to go back! I didn't end up running on Saturday because 1) it was humid and hot, 2) I'm lazy and 3) we ended up having a date night on Friday and I might have had one too many margaritas. So, I had two glorious days where my only exercise was taking care of the horse. He's doing amazingly well by the way.

It's back to the grind! I did work out yesterday and tracked all of my food, so I'm feeling back on track after my weekend off. I was up to run this morning and it's a good thing. It's going to be deadly out there this afternoon. It's also a "rest" day for Nick so our ride will just be walking around in the ring for 20 minutes or so. I'm happy about that... I don't have it in me to really work him in 90 degrees.

HI there.... Sounds as if you had a wonderful weekend.. :) It is really hot.. and I love it.. love to run in the heat, more so then cold.

Enjoy the evening with Nick!! :)
From momtoabc:
Good job getting that run in this morning!

Drink lots of water and tums/gas-x! ;)

Beach day- they are spending the day at the beach, but we are having some serious T-storms and rain, so not sure if the school decided to cancel or not, when I called this morning, the trip was still on....should've kept them home!

Happy Tuesday to you, sounds like you had a great weekend!!
From fnmchic:
Ahhhhhh! Sounds like a great weekend! Sounds like your treat for hubs was well received and ENJOYED! Enjoy your short work week!
From deb1207:
Hi M: my buddies in NJ told me how hot it was. Maybe I can trade you some weather!? I thought bout you a lot today. We went to this great place for lunch:lots of salad, pasta, pizza, soup, muffins, breads, desserts, etc. M: I LOVE the brownies in this place. They are called something "decadent" brownies, but they are low cal? they are each 140 cals. But great. This place even has hot baked sweet potatoes wrapped in foil. Anyway, thought of you cause I said, "hey the heck with low carb stuff. I love yams. I love fire roasted squash and zucchini. Not going to sweat it if I eat carbs. had 2 brownies with great whipped cream. You are a good influence, you helped me enjoy the meal! hoping I somehow help you too!

Mood: Happy
I'm working from home today and I'm so relieved. I slept from soundly from 10-6 and feel rested for the first time in a long time! Now I'm having a leisurely breakfast. I'll probably work out around 8. I want to get my apartment cleaned up some so I don't have to think about it over the weekend, and getting the grocery shopping done would be nice too.

I actually have work to do too, which is a nice change!

Anyway, I'm probably logging off until Monday, so I'll talk to you all then. Have a great weekend!

Mood: Healthy
I bounced out of bed this morning well rested and ready to run! Headed out the door and was bopping along through my warm up. Then I started my run. Oh my god. Suddenly life was so hard. It was one of those mornings where every step for the first 5 minutes is an act of sheer will and all you can think is, "whyyyy am I doing thiiiis?". But I got over it. I always do.

I felt like I ate a ton yesterday and yet here I am under calories again. Today I'm going to be dramatically under since I'm riding after work. I'm even planning to pull from the emergency Larabar stash (I don't really like eating bars instead of real food, but they're so convenient to keep in my desk). It's ok, a day far under won't kill me.

Since I didn't get to ride yesterday I'm going to have to take Nick out for the next 3 days in a row to meet my week's goal. I don't think he'll mind! My mom is leaving for the Cape this afternoon, so he's going to be spending a lot of time inside. He's going to need to get out and move around so he doesn't get swollen. (It's called stocked up, it's when all of the fluid in their legs settles and it happens really easily in old horses or horses with bad legs. Nick is both old and has bad legs. He can't go a day inside without stocking up.)

Also, tonight I'm trying out a recipe for a quinoa loaf. It should be something like meatloaf but, you know, with quinoa. I'll let you all know if it turns out well or if I end up pulling out the emergency tortellini!

I've decided I'm not going to track Saturday (as usual) and also give myself Sunday off this weekend. I'm planning to spend both days splitting my time between the barn and my parents' pool, with some friends coming over to swim on Saturday. This will be my first long weekend / vacation since January (not counting the few times I've worked from home on Friday this year.) I fully intend to enjoy! There will be many margaritas!

EDIT: Switched it around to tortellini and caesar salad tonight. I'll need the extra calories and I'll be able to make the quinoa loaf tomorrow when I'll be working from home. It needs an hour in the oven not to mention the quinoa cooking time so this is a lot better for my schedule.

Great Run!
From deb1207:
Oh! Your life sounds good M! margaritas! no tracking on the weekend, YES! I didn't know you ever ate larabars. if i had only known! When I was in NJ, the neighbors worked for Larabar, they gave me sooo many bars (like hundreds) and we never ate them, didn't really like them.

I am curious how the Quinoa loaf will come out. Its funny how the first 5 minutes sometimes is, then it kicks into gear. I try to tell that to my husband. When we are swimming, or going up a hill, he'll want to quit before that 5 is up. By the way, how do you like the ciobani? I don't. too thick and sour for me. glad you can take Nick out too, he is lucky to have you!
From Noressa:
Between your work on the barn, riding on Nick and your normal workouts, I think taking a day off isn't the worst thing that can happen at all. :) It sounds busy, but also lovely and I'm so, so delighted that Nick has people who care for him so! Every time you talk about him, it makes me smile. :)

Ooooh this was a hard morning. Wednesdays and Fridays are my touch days for getting up to work out. But, I did it! It was worth it. That's out of the way and now I can get to the barn and not have to stress about the strength training. Having Nick in a place where I can consistently ride after work is doing wonders for my conviction when it comes to the morning work outs. There's no, "I'll have time to do it after work" because I won't! Skipping the work outs isn't an option.

I feel like all of my goals are going really well. The weird thing is, I used to think I fell down when I had too many, but right now I'm completely overloaded compared to what I was asking of myself compared to a few weeks ago and I'm doing better. I almost need that checklist in my head. I want to say I met my goals, and I'm definitely keeping myself busy!

Thats great to hear that you are keeping to your goals, and it is funny, that sometimes we do expand to meet the size of our challenges. And sometimes even if we think we are challenged, we're really not until we manage to balance greater and more things. I am glad the Nick project is done. My girlfriend just ran a half marathon; I was proud of her even though it wasn't that fast, a 10 minute mile. maybe one day!
From momtoabc:
I agree, I can't workout after work either, not an option, I have tried in the past and it was hell! Good job getting that workout in!
From fnmchic:
GREAT GOING! You are inspiring me with your workouts. I am vowing to get back to it starting next Tuesday. June is going to be my back to it month.

Keep up the great work!
From AddieMay:
Sounds like you are in a better frame of mind and are feeling productive in your goal setting. That's fantastic!
From Noressa:
Hah, fantastic! I have to say I feel like my goals are going by the wayside for the time being, but right now... Being involved with Ben and his moms museum is just stunningly awesome. I'm getting caught up in the excitement and taking a detour. :) (I've loved helping out, even with all the hard work. I know I don't put in anything other then my time, but I still like seeing what's come of it!) I feel as though if I had an animal who needed a workout, I would feel much more inclined to do something with them. Part of why I don't want a dog, believe it or not. I'd want to walk them and play with them every day, and with our busy life, I know the poor thing wouldn't get to see us as often as I'd like, much less get the affection/attention it would want.
I love your attitude and your commitment to your goals! Great job! Also happy to hear that Nick is in a new barn and all settled.

I had a great run this morning. I'm really proud of myself for getting out and doing it. It was supposed to rain this morning and I was tempted to just set my alarm for 6 under the assumption it would be raining. It wasn't, so I ran. Now I don't have to think about it and I can get Nick out this afternoon with no missed run guilt. I also have dinner in the crock pot so I just need to bake the cornbread when I get home.

I got in a little trouble at work yesterday for not reporting on an issue my project was having sooner. I was really upset at the time, but I'm going to try to chalk it up as a learning experience and move on from it.

Today is booked solid with meetings, so time to run and get some stuff done before they hit me!

Good job getting out there for a run! Not raining here either, where's the T-storms?! ;)
