About Me:

"The good Lord gave you a body that can stand most anything. It's your mind you have to convince." Vince Lombardi 2012 is my third year here. 2011 was not that great for actual weight loss, but ended the year 5 pounds lighter. So, it was basically a year of not re-gaining the good losses of 2010. Began here Jan. 2010, and lost 33 pounds. Not amazing, but not lousy. I'm pleased with the outcome based on my degree of effort. As 2012 begins, I have 17 I want to lose to obtain 'normal' status (based on BMI score). So that's my goal. Plus, when I did weigh 150 -- back before 2006 -- I was wearing 8s/10s and feeling good! Never had a weight problem before 2006, but that's the moment in time that lots of issues hit me ... and issues just kept coming into my life over the next couple of years. Gained 55 pounds between January 2006 and January 2010. That's a lot to gain in 4 years! Many of the issues I'm facing haven't subsided, but I'm determined to not let them control my life. So...2010...lost 33 pounds. A good start to getting my body, my health, my self-pride BACK. "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." -Winston Churchill. "Discipline is remembering what you want." -David Campbell Began 2010 with 55 pounds to lose. High blood pressure. High cholesterol. Lots of aches, pains, neuropathy. 2010 Weight Loss Progress: Jan: 2.5 lbs. Not great, but a start! Feb: 6 more lbs. March: 5.5 more lbs., 14 lbs for year. Apr: 3 lbs off. May: 1 more lb., 18 lbs. total. June: 5 more lbs. July: 3 more lbs., 26 total. Aug. 3 more lbs. Sept: 1 lb, 30 total! Oct: ZERO LOST Nov: Another month ZERO lost. Somewhere my momentum disappeared. But at least I'm not gaining! Will not stop this process until 50 lost! Dec.: 3 pounds off! Determined to not give up due to the holidays! Twelve months have gone by and I'm 33 pounds lighter! While I'm not whittling off this extra weight super fast, I'm still tickled with my results. Not stopping until 55 gone! I'm more than half-way to my goal! 2011 Weight Loss Progess: Spent the year re-gaining, losing, re-gaining, losing. Two pounds here, three pounds there. Is this 'maintenance'? Am tickled that I didn't re-gain the 33 pounds I lost in 2010, and nice that ended the year 5 additional pounds lighter. But did not reach my goal of getting to 150. Am off all weight-related prescriptions and eating healthier than ever! On to 2012! Determined to reach my goal! Jan '12: Month ends with 3# of holidays still on body. 10,500 calories need to leave my body before I see my 2011 low number on scale. 4/5/12: Those 3# OFF the scale. For 5 months I've lost and gained those same 3# over and over! (including over the holidays) Am back to 40 lbs lost! Now to march on to that 150 number on scales. 5/1/12: 163. Only 13 to go! But still struggle with the re-gaining and re-losing. It's not getting the best of me though, the number slowly gets lower and lower! 4/27/12: 162!

From momtoabc:
Oooo have fun. We are headed down that way later in August. Really looking forward to it!

Have fun and enjoy your time with your daughter.
From amyzwicke:
Sounds so exciting!!! I am sure you will have an amazing time! No worries about the sodium comment, trust me I was saying the same thing to myself. But I was on the run and had to make a "packed lunch" to eat in the car on the way to the periodontist so it was slim pickings. I should have put some roast beef I had made in the crock pot in the sandwich for less sodium. Just didn't want another peanut butter sandwich. :P

Have a awesome vacation, hope we will still see you on here.

Today, I feel excited! I leave for Boston tomorrow! Haven't seen my Boston daughter for almost a year!
She doesn't have a scale. So this will be a new way to start my days... NOT standing on a scale each morning! Plan on being there about 2 weeks.

NOT a day of healthy eating ... drinking lots of coffee, doing laundry, packing, running errands to be ready to leave tomorrow. No food all day. Crazy how being busy and drinking LOTS of coffee can find oneself having not eaten all day! Shared a Lean Cuisine with hubby for dinner. He's feeling really guilty that he didn't even try to lose the 10 lbs that we had a pact about. To each lose 10 between when we got here, March 8, and June 1. Well, neither of us achieved the goal. I'm shy by 3.5 and he's shy by 12!!

So, still buzzing around at 11PM...for me that's late...had a half sandwich snack.

Hi. Sounds like you enjoyed yourself but exhausting too last week. How was it? The grandtoddler exploring new surroundings sounds cute. Oh, I can so relate to the sundress thing. You bought it hoping to wear it, and now never will. I have that too. Like I waited for something to fit, and now its too big. oh well. how ya doin. i'm ok but too much to worry bout.
From amyzwicke:
YEA!!!! I am so excited for you! I felt the same way after weighing myself this morning and seeing less than 250. I was so worried after all the junk I ate. But I ate way less than I would have normally.

Thanks for the congrats...every little bit helps. :)

Daughter and her little family headed back to Denver. It was wonderful having little Grandtoddler here while her parents went to a wedding overnight in Newport Beach. Got lots and lots of hugs and smooshy kisses.

Now back to more slimming matters.

Exhausted.

Congrats on the sundress being too big! Ahhh now you know how I feel every day. Except I have a 45 lb 4 year old and a 15+ lb baby. They can sure wear you out. But when you do it everyday it becomes oddly normal. LOL! Glad you are able to spend sometime with the family!

164...no uptick after last night's restaurant! Why? Was active as can be yesterday with little one! Trying to let her parents relax, I stayed very very busy!

Horrible wind storm last night! Sandy grit finds it's way into the house in such devious ways! A mess this morning, and after all my cleaning! On morning walk, streets littered with tree limbs, leaves, and huge palm fronds, and palm husks ... but no toppled palm trees like windstorm in January.

Daughter/SIL left this morning to attend a wedding in San Diego. Am on my own with grandtoddler (hubby off playing golf) ... WHEW! Every muscle I have is aching! She's pretty needy, with her parents gone, in a strange house ... who can blame her?

Walking everywhere with her, either she is walking or riding in a stroller, we have been over every inch of the place where I live ... she likes the activity and Lucky the dog loving it as weather very cool this morning, warming up to merely 'mild' over the afternoon.

10PM, I'm exhausted and aching everywhere. Having her in my life is like lifting 40 pound weights every 5 minutes! Oh! my lower back!

P.S. Tried on a size 12 sundress that I bought back in 2008, when I was on my way up in weight. It was too big! ... straps kept falling off shoulders and just too baggy everywhere! Kind of sad that this one now in donation box, because it's really cute, but thrilled that it's too big!

Today, I feel motherly. Made omelets & toast for everyone for breakfast. Man! That dishwasher fills up fast when more than 2 people in the house! :)

Got in a short lap swim ... temps so much cooler today! High set for 85.

Today, I feel happy to have Denver daughter, grandtoddler and son in law here! They arrived late Wednesday (plane an hour late). Playing with toddler in pool, carrying her, lifting her around, swirling her in the water ... wonder how that effort compares to swimming laps? I was pooped!

At pool 3 hours. Was active in the water for 2, counted one hour on fitness entry.

Today, I feel old. Are the aches and twinges I'm experiencing today why old people moan and groan? I've got a sharp twinge in both hips, my carpal tunnel and tendonitis in right arm deeply ache and my upper shoulders can tell they're not used to all the pushing and shoving and lifting and sweeping and cleaning of yesterday. Yikes! Final cleaning today! Want my 7 months pregnant daughter to feel relaxed and comfortable here, and the dust and sand grit can really bug her allergies. So PRISTINE is my goal!

Got some lap swimming in ... body so sore.

From deb1207:
Pristine is a good goal. My word is "sparse". I never really get there, but I try. Yes, I see you wrote about the analyzing etc. and thinking of food. And that you didn't meant it I know in any bad way at all. Not taken either.

The funny thing is, I think and analyze all kinds of things, but the only one I tend to write about here, is the food weight loss one exercise one. Cause thats the focus of this. Though I gotta say, I find recipes boring. Do you?

Sorry you are feeling that pain. I just feel cold today (not old, just cold). Could use some California heat. I write & think about all this, not just for me, for lots of people. I want people to succeed. And then, there are people who really try and who have various issues, some physical some emotional. And there are those who don't try for various reasons.

Even when people (not you, just people) are not motivated, there is usually hope. I think so. There's just so much obesity, and people whose lives are shortened, or who are in pain unnecessarily, I don't know. I think about it all, and how to help others. Each person is so different; and they each I think have to find their own way.

Hope you have fun with your daughter & that your place looks great. I am sure it will. Oh, I don't want an apple, I want 3 pounds of Cherries! and 5 nectarines, in season! Yum!
