RE: my weight/health/food: I tried NutriSystem briefly in the 80s (they kicked me out because I plateaued too long!), low-carb/Atkins (also briefly) in the 90s, and WeightWatchers in the early 2000s. Lost 85 pounds on WW. Then I got 'comfortable' again and lazy (and cheap!), have been off-Program for a while now, and gained it all back. Plus some; so I've recommitted as of 1/29/08. Here are some of the things I enjoy. Glean what you will. Music: Beatles, Patsy Cline, Chris Isaak, Dead Milkmen, Elvis, Hank Williams, Lyle Lovett, Mike Ness/Social D, psychobilly, punk, punkabilly, Ramones, Bananarama, rockabilly, The Clash, western swing, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Dwight Yoakam, and Southern Culture on the Skids. Television: Project Runway, anything with Mike Rowe, Ninja Warrior, Kathy Griffin, Paula Deen, How Clean is Your House?, Clean House, You Are What You Eat. I collect: Fiestaware, records, and postcards. Hobbies: knitting, photography, listening to NPR, Wii, etch-a-sketch, haiku, pinball. I *heart* Dave. This chaps my hide AND grinds my gears: deceptive serving sizes listed on packages. Case in point: my delicious asiago cheese roll. This is the kind of roll that does NOT come pre-sliced; YOU have to cut it in half if you want to, say, put some BBQ in it and eat it as a sandwich. That's not the irritating part, though. the irritating part is that there are four rolls in the bag, and yet the Servings Per Container listed on the Nutrition Label is 8. Yes, that's right, some decided it would look nicer on the label if the calories were listed as 150, so they reduced the portion size. Nice. Yeah, I am aware this happens all the time, but come ON, making a person count the top of the roll (that a person has to hack in half themselves) as 150 and the bottom of their roll as another 150? Grrrr.

Today, I feel... like a nice relaxing birthday day was exactly the right thing. I'm happy to have stayed in my pajamas today, hanging out and knitting and having a series of phone calls. Yay! Ooo, I'm going to go look and see if TDP calls me 39 now!
