From the documentary "49 Up": Neil suffered from depression as a teen and ended up living on the streets as a young adult. "49 Up" shows him currently working as a politician. With a poignant story, he recalled laying on the grass and seeing a butterfly land beside him. Watching it gently open and close its wings, he contemplated that despite its short lifespan, it was enjoying simply being a butterfly. Can't make myself rush for anything today. So far, so good. This is my "rest" week, though I plan to still do yoga and pilates T-Th. Next weekend will be a massage paid for by my sweetie. The room for rent process is going super slow, but I guess I'm ok with that. Things are still changing...

Had a *really* difficult time getting up and going today. Wished yesterday was Friday. But...I made it to work. I have the Dollhouse video rented for tonight. Food is nearly organized so that I can order it in time for the gathering tonight. Vacuumed before I left the house.

Need to work on a couple of deadlines for work and a reading assignment for class. They're doable, even if I don't finish today.

Also started listening to Malcom Gladwell's Outliers on audio book today. Very interesting.

I'm considering adding creatine to my diet, both for marathon training purposes and to give my brain a boost.

Ugh, 6 am was way too early to get up this morning. But...I got to attend a national conference in my jammies, so I can't complain too much. I also extracted the audio from my videotaped presentation and then married the stripped audio with my power point slides. This way, it can be posted online for posterity (the videotape was useful for me to study my body language, but the slides were illegible for anyone who hasn't already seen the presentation).

It's been difficult to run this week, but I'm sticking with the incentive that I'm never sorry that I ran...after the fact.

Even was good and made my own lunch after running: lentil and spinach salads with lemon water. Filling and guilt-free. Maybe this will help with the next few days of running plans.

Made about two weeks' supply of my own veggie burgers: brown rice, lentils, teff, ground oatmeal, brown rice flour, tomato, orange pepper, celery, garlic, berbere, cayenne, oregano, basil and ketchup. It was a make-shift recipe from something I found online, based on what I had in the pantry/fridge. Took over 2 hours to make, and I filled the house with smoke...but they were yummy and I have something other than veggies and fruit to load up on for a while.

It's a weird feeling to have an abundance of food and be sick of eating it, but nice to put a twist on the preparation to make a new thing that I'm not sick of.
