Swimming - backstroke, general

Swimming - backstroke, general:

One of the only competitive swimming events that begin in the water, the backstroke (also called the back crawl) is one of the slowest strokes in the sport. During the backstroke, the swimmer lies flat on his back with his arms and legs extended. The arms are the major contributor to locomotion with the legs doing a flutter kick to keep the body buoyant.
