Trinity Chili

Named for the three kinds of meat, the Louisiana Trinity of onion, celery, and bell pepper, and a neighboring town, this is a lower sodium mild chili with a little bit of everything. Add hot sauce, sliced jalapenos, chopped scallions, cheese to taste at table.

Tabbouleh

Made this tabbouleh with bulghur wheat and other items on hand.

Spaghetti Sauce - homemade - lower sodium

Made this sauce because the jarred and canned sauces have too much sodium. This is also far less expensive! Be sure to use tomato puree and ground meat that hasn't had any salt or flavorings added!

Southern Living Easy Pizza Dough

Yield: Makes 6 (8-inch) pizza dough rounds Ingredients * 1 cup warm water (100° to 110°) * 1/4 cup olive oil * 1 (1/4-oz.) envelope active dry yeast * 2 teaspoons honey * 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour * 1 teaspoon kosher salt

French (Donut) Muffins

These muffins taste like a doughnut, due to the nutmeg. This is a modification of Aunt Arline's recipe. The original recipe used Crisco instead of the butter. Makes about 48 mini-muffins. Same recipe can also make about 16 large muffins.

Blueberry Pie Filling
