Unsweetened applesauce is delicious and filling. It has high fiber and water content, making it more satisfying. The ingredient list should be apples, water, and maybe some preservative or anti-browning agent.
Adding cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg or other spices really gives it some kick. Adding a bit of Splenda or other sweetener (like honey) also makes a nice touch.
Best for breakfast, dessert or with pork dishes. I keep at least one jar in the pantry at all times in case of sweettooth.
