This is more typically useless website calorie information where calories for the measure given: ounce - gram - cup or whatever - is not translated into an actual portion as it is sold or served or eaten in reality.
In the case of Fried Chicken Wing, these are sold, prepared, at the grocery, by the pound! So if the calories were given per ounce, you then might figure how many calories you've bought and eaten.
But no - it says 102 calories for "1 medium wing" with no details of how much food that actually might be. It seems the objective of the grocery - or restaurant - is to sell the biggest wings growable. How many ounces - or even grams - (yes I have a calculater) - is in a so-called medium wing? And here's the real quastion: what is a wing? Is it the 3 original parts together of a chicken wing? In the package of prepared hot wings - or cold wings- at the grocery you will eat them 1/2 wing at a time. That is, it is a mixture of the two separate pieces of the wing, the drumette piece, and the blade piece, as they are called.
As you look at these large, deep-fried with skin pieces of fried chicken - if two together are considered a
wing, then each part has 51 calories?? No way.
Which is just to repeat, that the info on the website, as on so many others, is an unrealistic waste of time, lacking common sense in describing a portion someone actually eats!
It's at best unclear, at worst just wrong.
(If the calorie count refers to a particularly low-calorie recipe somewhere on the LIVESTRONG site, then that isn't clear either, and I don't want to go "page back" to look, for fear of thereby wiping out this message.)
