Quinoa is quit a delicious alternative to rice, pasta, oats and pearl barley and can be served for breakfast or as a savory dish.
I often eat it for breakfast, cooked in water with cinnamon, adding soya milk/milk in the last stages. Served with dried or fresh fruit. Yoghurts also compliment.
As a savory dish I add chopped salad vegetables after cooking in a stock.
Spring onion, tomato, pickeled onion, marinated artichoke hearts, pickled beetroot, beans, tomato, cucumber, sweet red pepper...so many thing work as it is a neutral grain, high in protein and with a great crunch...enjoy!

I love quinoa. It cooks fast, stores well in the refrigerator for future use, & complements a variety of foods. I've made chicken/quinoa main dishes, sauted with vegatables for an alternative to fried rice (I eat for breakfast), and mix with tuna, feta, and egg less mayonaise for a quick lunch. Heat in the microwave and yummy. A dish my girlfriend and I created. Plus it is so good for you!!!

Quinoa is so tasty but, oh, so many calories. 1/2 cup has 127 calories and a breakfast of 1/2 cup of cooked quinoa just isn't much food. Much better to have a full serving of oatmeal for the same or fewer calories. Good protein, good taste, just too many calories.

Quinoa has the consistency of pastina with a neutral taste. I heard about quinoa on the Jillian Michales radio show & found it at Whole Foods, packaged & in bulk. The bulk is less expensive. I cooked it like rice & it came out perfect the first time. Quinoa is said to be the perfect protein. I've added it cold to salads & hot in soup. Quinoa will most likely replace pasta in my diet - for the better. There are mamy healthy recipes for quinoa on the internet.
