I used to get vodka and diet tonic at bars because I thought it was lower calorie, but they're really not that different, with vodka at 80 calories/oz. And I like wine a whooole lot better.

A good low carb, low fat snack that is good for you - as long as you drink it in moderation!

Less than light beer!

If red wine has 85 calories, how come the carb content says 2? Everyone knows that carbs have 4 calories per gram. Therefore, 85 divided by 4 equals 21ish. This is inaccurate information, especially for those trying to watch total carb grams. :)

just want to add some background about the carbs... alcohol itself can be metabolized and has an set amount of calories per gram. I think that its about 6 or 7 per gram, but don't quote me on that. If alcohol didn't have calories, everclear would be calorie free, but its not.

Pepp: There are only 2 grams of carbohydrates because the rest is alcohol. Carbohydrates run at 4 cal/gram and alcohol runs at 7 cal/gram. They don't show the alcohol content here, probably because this is just an estimate for red wine in general. Likely it's safe to say that around 8 cal come from carbs and the rest from alcohol: about 77 calories, meaning 11 grams of alcohol.
