cabbage is a tasty, fatfree way to fill your stomach. Eaten raw it takes a lot of effort chewing, which means it takes a while and lets you recognize you are full. I eat it almost everyday, of course from now on not in mayonaisy dressing anymore. I just read about it on a german website, which stated, that it burns more calories, to chew and digest it, than it contains, so you can eat as much as you like. just "julienne" it (thin strips)add salt and your favorite oil, knead it (yes, you see correctly)with your hands. That will break it down a little, even without tons of mayo. Add some lemon or lime juice and fresh ground black pepper.
Combines great with a whole wheat pita and some grilled porkstrips (loin or other lean part, flavor with marjoram), add some tsatziki (greek yogurt, garlic, diced cucumber and a litte salt) - - here you go, your healthy low fat gyros.
