It would be helpful if we could adjust the fat, sugars, carbs, etc on this item as well as the calories. just a thought.
jmax August 30
this would be a lot better if yes, we could change the title to a specific item, and also if we could edit the other nutritional info.
karijeanwright@gmail.com October 29
Really wish I could change the name to the item I ate.
kittikin August 30
Would be great if members could change the name from "generic calorie" to the specific item after adding it to my plate.
ravenblack March 19
This is an excellent tool. Here's one way I use it. I created a "Meal" consisting of 1 Generic Calorie (calorie value = 1) and named it "Junk". I use it for times when I ate a bunch of junk I wish I hadn't. I add it to My Daily Plate for that day. AFTER adding it, I change the "Servings consumed:" to the total number of calories in the junk food I ate. It's very flexible this way. When I review my eating I know these are things/calories that are contributing negatively to my goals.
jewelz04 December 6
In order to name the item you put up, with the generic calorie. You "make a meal" and The Daily Play Generic Calorie Calculator should be on your list to choose from. Click on it-tell how many calories, and before "saving the meal" label the "meal" as whatever you had. =)
jepace July 22
Brilliant! This will help keep track of some of the harder items. Thanks.
lonnie December 1
*** Any edits to this item will be rejected ***
Please do not make ANY changes to the generic calorie. It is used by many members and it will change thousands of members caloric content.
jahedeen September 27
It would be useful to enter my own meal with its description, calories, Carbs, fats, proteins, etc. I take most of my info directly off the package when I make it myself.
abcd4321 August 24
Thanks so much for including this! It really does make tracking easier.
k0kleppe December 13
wish I could figure out how to add a new item to the system.
aloophol3 February 11
this would be so much better if we could create a custom food from the ground up, including protein, carbs, fat, nutrients, etc!
lisarey February 7
I agree that we should be able to fill in the name of the item we ate on the genetic calorie. I would really be helpful.
rpabm5 February 9
It would be helpful to be able to delete something from the list. I put in a generic then found the food I was looking for listed differently than my initial search. Now I can't get the generic out of the list.
nathalie_tai January 4
I wish i could change the other contents
hwill86 October 6
this option would be better if it would allow me to enter carbs, fat, protein, etc. Especially for home made and personal recipes. A LOT easier than trying to create a meal then entering that you ate a fraction of said meal.
amr418 September 23
I'm confused as to why one calorie has 210 calories in it?...this is super hard to use now.
conoco March 31
oatmeal 1/4 cup
tdl23 July 19
please please please find a way so that we can imput the fat, carbs, protein, sodium, etc for our "generic calories" item entered. it would be a HUGE HELP! thanks!
changt1 August 6
you can actually just click on "enter calories manually" and when you do that, it uses the generic calorie, with your own food title you provide (that's how i stumbled upon it because it showed up in my calorie breakdown and also in my frequent food list when i manually entered calories).
kellykounsel March 2
I agree - I have the nutrition information and yet there is nowhere to submit it - it does not allow for accurate tracking.
mcarlin30 November 8
it would be helpful if the serving size could be adjusted when entering information on "my plate"
anghough December 19
Ugh! Why can't we add new foods with all the nutritional info?
gatorgambit December 20
What happened to the ability to add a new item? At least give us the ability to add more information than just calories.
bells April 1
Just remember when you use this, none of the fat and carbs etc. that you just ate are taken into account....
summer0214 October 17
I don't get it
sbr185 November 8
agree. If one could create their own entry that included more than calories under generic item....for example I use Health One Nutrition Shakes and can only enter the calories under enter manually. There is n ot a way to track the rest of the nutritional data. If there is someone please comment
amyrodulfo February 12
HOW CAN I USE THIS? PROBLEM - This only contains 1 calorie. So, for example, if I ate something containing 300 cals I would need to add this item 300 times. It would take far to long to re-open it 300 times! Please can you do something to help?
davidmelancon March 23
Why is this site so darn hard to use? Seems more oriented toward brand names than to generic items. Could be a great resource, but it's really klugey.

algometz July 27
I cannot figure out how to change the serving size on this. It will not let me adjust anything except when i ate it, so in order to add something that is 100 calories, i would have to add 100 of them!! How do I do this?
nmcdaniel January 16
This is not helpful- why can I not add my own amount of calories, fat, protein?
gildanava December 26
this a tasty venezuelan cheese cake that's 100% made with whey protein and splenda. You can eat it alone .rating: 5
sfisher November 16
again would be great if we could put in that actual name of the item rather than leave it as 'generic calorie.
Thanks
jbdauer September 28
Yes - it would be helpful to manipulate all fields, not just calories, for those of us who need to count additional nutritional values
Translation - Great for calorie counters, not so great for serious nutritional trackers
godmademe April 13
I'm with the others on being ABLE to change the caloric, protein, sugar, carb, etc., in the diet plan tracking!! MOST DEFF!! Then 'we' all would get a very accurate measure of what we put into our mouths..
PLEASE CHANGE THIS TO HELP YOUR CLIENTS WHO WANT TO IMPROVE THEMSELVES??!!
~always keep a smile Darlene
rtkelly January 9
I agree with the other comments... Because some foods/beverages you can't get the exact nutritional information for, it would be nice to be able to just put in a one-time custom item, which would let you name it and put an estimated calorie amount, without adding a formal entry.
chestr August 30
Yeah a little up/down toggle next to the totals would be helpful as I've only eaten 1/2 an apple/kiwifruit/banana.
melinda4hearing November 10
very confusing - I dont understand how to put in calories. I have calorie and other info per serving for a recipe but cannot put info in - really limits usefulness of site when it comes to cooking from recipes. very disappointing!!
meganz71 January 24
Why can't we just add our own foods?
suzieiq August 21
Great concept. I will try it!
zabellad October 10
I would like to be able to enter manually the name of the menu item and choose to add or not add all of the nutritional information
cl60mccoy April 9
I would like to be able to subtract the salad dressing from the salads I eat - especially out. Who needs all that glop. I ask for it on the side and generally even forget to taste it! I also have all gravies and sauces "on the side" an generally don't eat those either.
cmmorin October 26
You adjust the fat/carb/protein grams by creating a meal. Just create a meal with "1 Fat Gram", "Protein Grams", and "Carbohydrate Grams". When you select the items to add to your meal, be sure that each item has the correct calories: Fat has 9 cals, and carbs and protein each have 4 cals/gram. This way you can adjust the macronutrient content if you like to keep track of it that way.
jaytomten February 1
This site has a horrible food database. and a lousy custom item feature. I am leaving this site to find a better one.
sigrunerla March 7
We need to be able to put in fat, cal, carbs etc. of the items we eat and are not in the exsitent list on this website.
vespalady402 November 30
I know it's been tough for the Central Government to make high-quality rations since the infection spread to the mainland and we lost most of the soy-A crop, but you'd think that with their control of all the laboratories and food supplies, they could make a better generic calorie. With the tiny amount of this junk that they give us, I barely have the energy to seal off our bunker before nightfall, much less defend the other inhabitants from any Them that might slip through.
fbyars October 26
great food
300 calories
neehar July 17
This seems like a great idea for putting in a certain number of calories to balance out the daily allowance. But it would be nice to have it where we could put a new entry to estimate calories on other foods in which certain vendors dont provide. Hopefully, when others who may have some privelaged information see this entry they can improve it's information. I think its almost like a glitch in the system or bad coding that you can't have more than one entry for making estimations.
amcatura January 26
I would also like to adjust the fiber and etc.. besides calories
ksillman March 8
It would definitely be helpful to be able to edit the additional nutritional information other than calories alone. By not being able to edit we are unable to get an accurate total of fat and carbohydrates at the end of the day.
helen_krieger June 24
I find the generic calorie helpful in counting calories, but it would be more useful if I could also add the fat/prtein/carb content details as I am interested in monitoring the composition of my diet as well as the total number of calories I consume.
cynthiaca April 12
I found the nutrition details on another site and wish I could just enter them all. It seems it would be fairly easy to be able to import the Nutrition facts or enter them manually. Silly problem to be having.
bobsomm January 9
I just started and screwed up and would like to go back and edit what I said I ate today. Anyone know how to do this? Or, since it is my first day, I'd happily start over and do it correctly.
Peace, Bob a newbie.
rkimbel June 29
oscar mayer roast beef wheat wrap
greggvh April 23
Sauteed veggies in cajun spice. Roasted breast of chicken, cheddar cheese in a whole wheat tortilla. Topped with sliced avocado(1/2) and hot salsa
600 calories with most of the fat coming from the avocado

dbeaber November 29
I wish I could write what I ate.
audiomind January 31
Why can't you simply add a personalized food item, with calories, fat, carbs, protein, etc., that doesn't get added to your database? Why can't users create this, only to be used for your personal page alone? Seems like this site is making it far harder than it actually needs to be in calculating this type of stuff. It would save a lot of time not having to search, edit and wait for items to be approved to be changed by site moderators. This generic calorie thing could be a solution if you allowed a full edit for all the values and put it clearly on the front page of all personal 'plate' pages.
successat57 August 24
I would love to be able to enter all the fat, carbs, proteins etc on this general plate. Thanks!
wbholmes March 9
would love to be able to write the actual name of the item eaten. Plus put in the nutritional info
lacy520 January 14
It would be helpful to alter the other categories, change the name etc. As many recipes are now providing nutritional information, instead of entering each individual ingredient and then changing quantities to just my portion, this could be added to my meals.
roziera January 15
I agree with momma, is there any way we could add/edit the rest of the information such as fats protein etc...Also could the prgram give a break down on the vit.c,d,b, and iron. Thanks
mallycat December 1
this is messing up the generic calories i add to my plate, causing them to go all out of wack.
i think a more specific name wouldn't cause this problem.
sorry if this is a cost to you, but could you please change the name?
leekatc12 September 16
Why can't we just have a template where we can add an item with all the pertinent nutritional information? Is there a tab that I am somehow missing that enables us to do so?
bigboy63 January 17
I wish they would have the protein I get but nooooooooooo
nhe8888 October 16
I would like it much more if I could change the name of "Generic calorie" to exactly what I ate--for example if I ate 1/2 a sundae I am not going to submit that for review.
bcheeks0966 October 6
Had to add my lean cuisine as a generic plate but could only add the calories and nothing else.
strnge June 14
I agree!!!!!!!!!!!!This option is almost useless because we can only input calories. We need to be able to add in the other nutritional values.
micki01149 February 22
i wish i could change the number of fats, carbs, protien, sodium, etc on this so i could track that more effectivly.
lulu2bobo May 6
Actual this is not so much a review, but a question. How do you enter a food that is not in data base, but you have the nutritional information? Can anyone help me on this? Thank you
drsues123 May 15
Since we are using this site to keep an accurate account of our intake, and given it is impossible for you to list every food available everywhere, it would be so helpful if we could edit all of the nutritional facts applicable to our needs.
al5279 June 15
this is a bit useless if we cant change fats, carbs , pro...
svnth_mnth September 7
I'm kind of frustrated because I just want to be specific about what sugar free things I eat and if the item doesn't exist already then I can't seem to add it. I wish this feature was more friendly. Going back to mynetdiary.com
emain1 June 28
It would be a lot nicer if you could add values for fat, sodium, carbs, etc. etc.
dwexler July 9
I don't think this item is necessary since one can alway enter calories manually.
hanke May 27
Prescrip Fit diet shake 100 calories per scoop for 12 oz. Chocolate or vanilla.

apcarpio November 14
I don't understand how you can create your own meals and put in your own nutritional values???? That would be most acurate.
dmjeffers9 April 19
I really would like to change the stuff, obviously i did not eat 1 cal
toriewest March 11
Yes, I agree. Need to be able to change item to name of what we ate.
jhm February 2
it would be great to let us enter our own custom food and number of calories - I make low calorie soups, stews, casseroles etc. it is difficult to calculate each ingrediant every time.
judylj60 January 10
Wish I could add/edit the nutritional info for this item; change the name of the item and would love to save it so I could reuse it if I ate it again.
audriajg June 25
can someone please reset this back to 1?! This has messed up my entire totals for the week. grr.
vintagegal1940 January 30
Would love a way to see visually via a chart/graph in any one week whether I have a calorie deficit or surplus. Also need to add all the new Lean Cuisine entrees to the database.
laen October 23
Delicious! Would eat again.
slove22 July 1
I wish i could keep track of more then just my calories.
procrastinasian June 23
As others have mentioned, please update the generic calorie so that we can rename it to a specific food, and allow us to enter nutritional info and serving sizes. This would be very very helpful! Despite your large database, many products still aren't listed.
lbackud July 23
No idea how to edit this...
incarnadin October 15
When I customize my own name for an item on my iPhone it still just shows up as Generic Calorie on the website. Why bother letting us customize the name on the mobile version then?
pennybme January 16
i agree - it would be nice if it went through the prompts for fats, cholesterol, sodium, carbs, protein, etc... especially for times we cannot find the item we're lacking in the database or have to wait for it to be added... or maybe if we could be notified when an item we ask to be added is updated,.. hmm?
:0)
but i'm totally grateful for the site, nonetheless.
hikushoo February 7
Calorie information is wrong. Please change it. 1,355 per 1 calorie?
carlos67 December 30
Would be much better if it allowed you to breakdown the calories; Protein, Carbs, Fat. Unless I'm missing something? I really like to track these and there's no point giving me nice Pie charts showing a breakdown if it doesn't allow all the data to be input.
nordzorn April 24
I would like to be able to enter all the fields when entering a food manually not just calories. I like seeing what my carbs, fiber and etc. are at the end of the day.
tanya_alina June 25
Need to find a way to add nutrition info on the foods that is not on the list.
jivery January 24
Please upgrade this item so that it is possible to enter additional nutritional information (carbs, protein, etc) so that this info is reflected in the daily totals.
runforit January 17
It would be so much easier if we could list the food item we ate. The way we enter foods is pretty time consuming. Not very user friendly. I find it hard to track my calories.
autumn147 April 26
This option is almost useless because we can only input calories. We need to be able to add in the other nutritional values. 4/26/11
robm06 February 8
Generic Calorie is my favorite dish. I eat it almost daily.
bb1968 April 26
As a GOLD member, we should be able to add the Macronutrients along with sugar and fiber. Need to get this fixed or I'll be cancelling my GOLD membership status for sure.
goincroppin June 4
If you use the Enter Calories Manually function, you CAN put in the name of the item! =) Just found this option and love it!!
