The surgery is often done under general anesthesia (asleep, pain-free), but small hernias may be repaired while the person is under local anesthesia (awake but pain-free).

As a baby grows in the womb, the testicles develop in the infant's abdomen and drop down into the scrotum during the last months before birth.

You may receive either general anesthesia (asleep, no pain) or local anesthesia (awake but no pain).
