Hi, I'm Amber Nimedez with LIVESTRONG.COM, and we're going to be talking about how restorative Yoga can help a gymnast. Gymnasts have a lot of power and flexibility and their workouts are quite intense. So, you want to balance that out and restorative Yoga is very helpful in that way. So, two poses that can help a gymnast is a child's pose. Go ahead and separate your knees, heels together, reach out in front of you and push your hips back. Rest your head down and you're just going to breath. You can hang out in that position for 30 seconds to about a minute. But, that will help elongate the spine and stretch out the hips and stretch out the shoulders. The second one is going to be a downward facing dog and you're going to stand, you're going to start off on your hands on your knees, neutral spine; you're gong to tuck your toes under and push your hips up and towards the air. You're going to push your heels down and push your chest in towards your thighs. And this really gives a stretch in the upper back and the hamstrings. Hold for about 30 seconds to a minute and then come on down. So, those are two really helpful restorative Yoga moves that can help a gymnast. I'm Amber Nimedez with LIVESTRONG.COM.
