Hey, everybody. I'm chef Mareya, the fit foodie. Today, I want to share a little bit about one of my favorite fruits, avocado. Yes, it is a fruit because of the seed. It's a tree fruit and it's got a great mild firm fleshy flavor. The riper it gets the softer it gets so depending on how you're using it, if you're using it in a sauce or a soup or a puree, you want to go for the softer one. But I love it because it is so versatile. It's a great source of nutrients, full of Vitamin C, E, K and other anti oxidants. It's got a lot of fiber in it and it even has more potassium per ounce than bananas. So great for your metabolic function, just a super heart healthy food. Now one thing to keep in mind is that it is a source of fat. Now it's a good fat. It's the kind of fat that does not increase your cholesterol. It's the LDL. So enjoy it in moderation though because about an ounce, which is let me show you, an ounce is not a whole lot. In an avocado this size, that's about an ounce. This is going to deliver almost five grams of fat. So a little bit goes a long way. If you were to eat the whole avocado, that's probably about half of your whole fat intake for the day. So just keep that in mind as you're thinking about everything else that you're eating during the day. Another thing to just keep in mind is that if you have allergies to certain foods like bananas, even latex, sometimes an allergy to avocado can develop too. So don't worry about that so much, just enjoy the avocado for the delicious fruit that it is. It's so versatile and it's so easy to use. I'm chef Mareya, the fit foodie and stay tuned for lots of great information on other healthy things. See you soon.
