Hi, I'm Jim Empey for LIVESTRONG.com. I'm here at the golf house at Quail Hollow here in Boise, Idaho and I'm gonna talk to you for just a couple minutes about how to use your stretchy band to get better at golf. I'm gonna show you a couple of stretches. I'm gonna show you a couple of exercises that you can do at home that are very simple that'll make you better. Alright, first stretch we're gonna do is gonna be a simple one we're gonna grip fairly short on the band and we're gonna lift up over our heads and that little bit of resistance as we reach out is gonna work our back and help stretch our shoulders and chest. as golfers we spend a lot of time bent over and these muscles get very short and very tight so the more we can open those up and do a bit of a reach and a bit of a stretch the better chance we have to turn fully and make a good effective swing in the golf swing. The other thing we're gonna do is grip very tight, pull out, and lift up. The more we can pull our shoulder blades together the more we're gonna open up our chest and shoulder joints. That's gonna give us greater flexibility. For the exercise we're gonna mimic the golf swing, we're gonna tie your stretchy band to the doorknob. We're gonna grip width a bit of resistance, take your gold grip right on the band and then using your midsection, using your body not just your arms we're gonna pull forward and we're gonna go to impact and we're gonna hold it and the longer we hold it the more you're gonna feel it in your midsection, your core, all of those abdominal muscles and then we're gonna relax and then we're gonna do that same motion with left hand going to impact and holding it and we're gonna do it with right hand going to impact and holding it. Use those simple exercises a couple of times a week you're gonna get stronger. You'll see it in your performance. Good luck.
