I'm Tanya Eberhardt and this is Yoga for heart health. Yoga for heart health will help you build a stronger and healthier heart. The heart is the organ that supplies blood to your entire system, delivering oxygen and nutrients and taking away toxins. By practicing a Yoga pose like downward facing dog, you will challenge your heart to supply blood while you're upside down, creating a stronger and healthier heart. Come to all fours and straighten your legs into a plank position. Send the hips back and open up the armpits. Now, for some people, downward facing dog seems to be constrictive on the shoulder joint. And their subscapularis, which is the muscle that sits in the arm joint is shortened, and they place a lot of weight into their hands. So, if this is the case for you, take two blocks and do downward facing dog with your hands on the block until you can open up the armpit completely. Once you can hold downward facing dog for 10 breaths, and you've opened up the armpit completely, then you can remove the blocks. And hold this pose for 10 breaths. Make sure to tuck the ribs in and lengthen the sit bones up towards the ceiling.
