Hi, I'm Cary Williams and the question is how to build your calves doing squat thrusts. Well, of course, we have benefits of building our calf muscles. You can run farther right? And also in boxing believe it or not we use our calves a lot for skipping rope and also for our stance because we push off of our feet for all of our power and all of our speed and all of our footwork so building those calf muscles is great and so I'm going to show you how to build your calf muscles by doing a squat thrust. So initially we're going to get into a squat position, so our legs are slightly wider than shoulder width apart and for this purpose, I'm just going to be holding my hands here and if you are more advanced you can always add some dumbbells, you can add some weight to these hands here. So I'm going to be coming down into a squat. Now the difference here because I'm building my calf muscles, I'm going to stay on the balls of my feet, so on my toes. So my heels will be off the ground the entire time that I'm doing these. So heels up and what I'm going to do is I'm going to get nice and balanced, hands here, you want to come down into a squat and as I come up, I'm going to push my arms all the way up. Again you can add weight if you like. Some people can do overhead so that's totally fine, you can do it without the weight. So all we want to do is come down, again those heels are off the ground and you are pushing up. So that's our squat thrust and all that's doing is burning those calves, but you are also getting the benefit of working your glutes, your hamstrings and your quads all in one. So build those calves up, get on the road, go running, skipping rope, it's going to help with everything, building those calves.
