Hi, I'm Jay McLeod. I have five fitness tips for you for the New Year. Number one, okay, don't make a New Year's resolution. Resolutions are broken within the first two to three weeks of the New Year okay? Look at this more as a lifestyle change. Number two, limit your resistance training to 45 minutes to an hour. Okay, after about an hour of training, you have no more stored up glycogen in your body, no more stored up energy. Number three, drink more water, okay, water helps curb your appetite and burn more calories. Number four, go for a run on an empty stomach, okay. Your body is going to use more fat cells than anything else. Number five, use more dumbbells in body weight exercises and less machines. Now I'm going to show you a great body weight and dumbbell exercise okay. This is a twofer, a two in one, you are working your chest, we're going to do a push-up and a row okay. Now you're going to begin with your weight resting on the dumbbells and your feet about shoulder width apart okay. Now you're going to inhale, slowly lower your body by bending your elbows to do a push-up, exhale, press your body up. Once you get to the up position you're going to pull your right hand in, elbow right by your ribs, exhale, plant it down, pull your left elbow in, plant it down, inhale and go for the push-up again.
